Abstract

A tool for cleaning a structure is provided. The tool includes an extension pole having a length, the extension pole including three or more cylindrical segments having different respective diameters, the segments being arranged in a telescoping configuration to permit the length of the extension pole to be adjusted to a desired length; locking nuts structured to releasably lock adjacent ones of the segments to one another; a grip provided on a most proximal one of the segments; and an attachment member provided on a most distal one of the segments, the attachment member being structured to removably attach at least one cleaning accessory.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A tool for cleaning an aquarium, comprising:
an extension pole having a plurality of cylindrical segments including a first cylindrical segment telescopingly engaged with a second cylindrical segment; a plurality of fasteners for securing adjacent cylindrical segments in a locked position; a grip provided about a proximal end of one of the extension pole; and an attachment mechanism about distal end of the extension pole for releasably attaching to at least one cleaning accessory.

2 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the first cylindrical segment includes a fastener about its outer surface.

3 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein one of the plurality of cylindrical segments includes a fastener about its outer surface.

4 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the attachment mechanism includes a female clip member having a hollow interior in fluid communication with an opposing pair of lateral through holes configured to removably mate with a male clip member of the at least one cleaning accessory.

5 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein a most distal one of the plurality of cylindrical segments includes outer screw threads and the attachment mechanism includes a threaded receptacle to releasably couple with the outer screw threads.

6 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising a cleaning accessory attached to the attachment mechanism, wherein the cleaning accessory is a fiber pad, a sponge, and/or a scraper.

7 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising a cleaning accessory attached to the attachment mechanism, wherein the cleaning accessory includes a receiving slot for receiving at least one operating tip.

8 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of cylindrical segments includes outer screw threads, and each of the plurality of fasteners has screw threads for engaging a respective one of the outer screw threads of all but a most distal one of the plurality of cylindrical segments.

9 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of fasteners includes a locking nut provided with inner screw threads for engaging a respective one of outer screw threads provided on all but a most distal one of the plurality of cylindrical segments.

10 . The tool of claim 9 , wherein the locking nut includes a tab provided on an inner surface thereof.

11 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein the tab is cylindrical.

12 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein when the locking nut is tightened, an inner surface of one of the plurality of cylindrical segments biases the tab radially against an outer surface of an adjacent one of the plurality of cylindrical segments.

13 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein a distal one of a pair of adjacent cylindrical segments includes a stopper tab for engaging the tab.

14 . The tool of claim 13 , wherein the stopper tab projects radially outwardly from the distal one of a pair of adjacent cylindrical segments.

15 . The tool of claim 13 , wherein the stopper tab includes a detent for engaging a transverse hole provided in the distal one of a pair of adjacent cylindrical segments.

16 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of cylindrical segments includes a drain hole.

17 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising a drain hole provided in at least one of the grip and the extension pole.
