Abstract

A method for reducing skin inflammation or reducing sebum production from sebaceous glands is disclosed. The method can include topically applying to skin in need thereof a composition that includes Psidium guajava fruit extract, wherein topical application of the composition reduces skin inflammation or reduces sebum production from sebaceous glands.

A method for reducing skin inflammation or reducing sebum production from sebaceous glands, the method comprising topically applying to skin in need thereof a composition comprising  Psidium guajava  fruit extract, wherein topical application of the composition reduces skin inflammation or reduces sebum production from sebaceous glands. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the skin in need thereof is inflamed skin, and wherein the composition reduces skin inflammation. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the skin in need thereof is oily skin, and wherein the composition reduces sebum production from sebaceous glands. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the oily skin has a shiny appearance. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract is a hydroglycolic extract. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract is an aqueous extract. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is free of alcohol. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract does not include the leaf portion of  Psidium guajava.    
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract does not include the root, stem, bark, seed, and flower portion of guava. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition consists of the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract, water, and glycerin. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition consists of the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract, water, glycerin, and a preservative. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes 0.01% by weight to 10% by weight of the composition of the  Psidium guajava  fruit extract. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition does not include a UV absorption agent, a cyanin, aloe vera, red clover extract, and a silicone containing compound. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes a moisturizing agent, an antioxidant, and an emulsifier. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is applied to the T-zone of a person's face.
