Tamper-evident takeaway box

Abstract

A takeaway box can include a main body with a lid. The lid can be configured to selectively move between an opened position and a closed position. The lid can include a lid panel, a tear panel, and an adhesive panel. The tear panel can be disposed between the lid panel and the adhesive panel. The adhesive panel can have an adhesive. The adhesive can be configured to affix the adhesive panel to a base panel of the takeaway box when the lid is in the closed position. A portion of the tear panel can be formed adjacent to the adhesive panel. The portion of the tear panel can be configured to be torn from the tear panel and the adhesive panel, thereby permitting the lid to be moved to the opened position when the adhesive panel is affixed to the base panel of the takeaway box.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A folding blank for a takeaway box, comprising:
 a main body having a lid configured to selectively move between an opened position and a closed position when the folding blank has been folded into the takeaway box, the lid including a lid panel, a tear panel, and an adhesive panel, the tear panel disposed between the lid panel and the adhesive panel, the adhesive panel having an adhesive configured to affix the adhesive panel to a base panel of the takeaway box when the lid is in the closed position;   wherein a portion of the tear panel is configured to be torn from the tear panel separating a remainder of the tear panel from the adhesive panel, thereby permitting the lid to be moved to the opened position when the adhesive panel is affixed to the base panel of the takeaway box.   
     
     
         2 . The folding blank of  claim 1 , wherein the folding blank includes the base panel bounded by a rear panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, a front central panel, a first front angled panel, a second front angled panel. 
     
     
         3 . The folding blank of  claim 2 , wherein one of the first front angled panel and the second front angled panel includes a first portion and a second portion separated by a portion folding line, the first portion having a first tab formed thereon, and the second portion having a second tab received by a first notch formed in the base panel. 
     
     
         4 . The folding blank of  claim 3 , wherein the second portion is configured to fold upwardly and perpendicular to the base panel so that the second tab is rotated out of the first notch and the first portion is folded downwardly so that an inner surface of the first portion abuts and faces an inner surface of the second portion and the first tab is received in the first notch. 
     
     
         5 . The folding blank of  claim 2 , wherein each of the first front angled panel and the second front angled panel includes a first portion and a second portion separated by a portion folding line, the first portion having a first tab formed thereon, and the second portion having a second tab received by a first notch formed in the base panel, the second portion configured to fold upwardly and perpendicular to the base panel so that the second tab is rotated out of the first notch and the first portion is folded downwardly so that an inner surface of the first portion abuts and faces an inner surface of the second portion and the first tab is received in the first notch. 
     
     
         6 . The folding blank of  claim 2 , wherein a tear panel folding line is formed between the tear panel and the lid panel, the tear panel folding line configured to permit the tear panel to fold about the tear panel folding line so that an inner surface of the tear panel is facing and abutting an outer surface of the front central panel when the lid is in the closed position. 
     
     
         7 . The folding blank of  claim 1 , wherein an adhesive panel folding line is formed between the adhesive panel and the tear panel, the adhesive panel folding line configured to permit the adhesive panel to fold about the adhesive panel folding line so that an inner surface of the adhesive panel is facing and adjacent to an outer surface of the base panel of the takeaway box when the lid is in the closed position. 
     
     
         8 . The folding blank of  claim 1 , wherein the adhesive has a peel-away film disposed thereon, the peel-away film configured to be selectively removed to expose the adhesive to affix the adhesive panel to the base panel of the takeaway box. 
     
     
         9 . The folding blank of  claim 1 , wherein the portion of the tear panel formed adjacent to the adhesive panel defines a tear strip, the tear strip configured to separate the portion of the tear panel from the adhesive panel. 
     
     
         10 . The folding blank of  claim 9 , wherein the tear strip has a pair of parallel perforated lines spaced apart and formed along a portion of a perimeter of the tear strip. 
     
     
         11 . The folding blank of  claim 10 , wherein the portion of the perimeter of the tear strip includes an entirety of the perimeter of the tear strip adjacent to the adhesive panel. 
     
     
         12 . The folding blank of  claim 9 , wherein the tear strip includes a first grip tab formed on a first end and a second grip tab formed on a second end. 
     
     
         13 . A takeaway box, comprising:
 a folding blank that has been folded into the takeaway box, the folding blank including a main body having a lid configured to selectively move between an opened position and a closed position, the lid including a lid panel, a tear panel, and an adhesive panel, the tear panel disposed between the lid panel and the adhesive panel, the adhesive panel having an adhesive configured to affix the adhesive panel to a base panel of the takeaway box when the lid is in the closed position;   wherein a portion of the tear panel is configured to be torn from the tear panel separating a remainder of the tear panel from the adhesive panel, thereby permitting the lid to be moved to the opened position when the adhesive panel is affixed to the base panel of the takeaway box.   
     
     
         14 . The takeaway box of  claim 13 , wherein the folding blank includes the base panel bounded by a rear panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, a front central panel, a first front angled panel, a second front angled panel. 
     
     
         15 . The takeaway box of  claim 14 , wherein the front central panel has a front bottom edge, and when the lid is in the closed position, the adhesive is adjacent to the front bottom edge. 
     
     
         16 . The takeaway box of  claim 14 , wherein the tear panel has a tear panel width and the front central panel has a front central width, and the tear panel width is substantially the same as the front central width. 
     
     
         17 . The takeaway box of  claim 14 , wherein interior angles between the rear panel and each of the first side panel and the second side panel are substantially right angles and remaining interior angles formed by the first side panel, the second side panel, the front central panel, the first front angled panel, and the second front angled panel are obtuse angles. 
     
     
         18 . The takeaway box of  claim 17 , wherein the folding blank for the takeaway box is configured to fold into a substantially irregular hexagonal prism. 
     
     
         19 . A method for securing a takeaway box, comprising:
 providing the takeaway box including a folding blank that has been folded into the takeaway box, the folding blank including a main body having a lid configured to selectively move between an opened position and a closed position, the lid including a lid panel, a tear panel, and an adhesive panel, the tear panel disposed between the lid panel and the adhesive panel, the adhesive panel having an adhesive configured to affix the adhesive panel to a base panel of the takeaway box when the lid is in the closed position, wherein a portion of the tear panel is configured to be torn from the tear panel separating a remainder of the tear panel from the adhesive panel, thereby permitting the lid to be moved to the opened position when the adhesive panel is affixed to the base panel of the takeaway box;   positioning the lid into the closed position, whereby the adhesive abuts the base panel of the takeaway box, thereby securing the lid in the closed position.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , further including a step of removing a peel-away film from the adhesive, thereby exposing the adhesive, prior to positioning the lid into the closed position.
