Conditional sporting event wagers

Abstract

A system which offers different conditional sporting event wagering opportunities

The invention claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system comprising:
 a processor; and   a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
 receive an order of a conditional sporting event wager on an outcome of a sporting event, and 
 responsive to an occurrence of a conversion event, convert the conditional sporting event wager to a placed sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event. 
   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor responsive to the occurrence of the conversion event, the instructions cause the processor to automatically convert the conditional sporting event wager to the placed sporting event wager. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor responsive to the receipt of the order of the conditional sporting event wager, the instructions cause the processor to cause an escrow of an amount of funds associated with the conditional sporting event wager. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor responsive to the receipt of the order of the conditional sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event, the instructions cause the processor to associate the conditional sporting event wager with a temporary sporting event wager ticket validation number. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein when executed by the processor responsive to the occurrence of the conversion event, the instructions cause the processor to convert the temporary sporting event wager ticket validation number to a sporting event wager ticket validation number associated with the placed sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the conditional sporting event wager and the placed sporting event wager are each associated with a sporting event wager ticket validation number. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the conversion event occurs responsive to any of a satisfaction of a first condition associated with the sporting event and a satisfaction of a second condition associated with a quantity of sporting event wagers placed in association with the sporting event. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the sporting event comprises any of a live sporting event, a historic sporting event, a recreated sporting event and an electronic sporting event. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the outcome of the sporting event comprises an outcome of an in-game event of the sporting event. 
     
     
         10 . A system comprising:
 a processor; and   a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
 receive a bid in an auction bidding sequence associated with a sporting event, 
 responsive to the bid being a winning bid of the auction bidding sequence, modify a condition of a sporting event wager available to be placed on an outcome of the sporting event, and 
 cause a display, via a display device, of the sporting event wager comprising the modified condition. 
   
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the auction bidding sequence comprises any of an English auction bidding sequence, a Dutch auction bidding sequence, a sealed bid auction bidding sequence and a popcorn auction bidding sequence. 
     
     
         12 . A method of operating a system, the method comprising:
 receiving data associated with an order of a conditional sporting event wager on an outcome of a sporting event, and   responsive to an occurrence of a conversion event, converting, by a processor, the conditional sporting event wager to a placed sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising, responsive to the occurrence of the conversion event, automatically converting, by the processor, the conditional sporting event wager to the placed sporting event wager. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising, responsive to the receipt of the order of the conditional sporting event wager, causing, by the processor, an escrow of an amount of funds associated with the conditional sporting event wager. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising, responsive to the receipt of the order of the conditional sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event, associating, by the processor, the conditional sporting event wager with a temporary sporting event wager ticket validation number. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising, responsive to the occurrence of the conversion event, converting, by the processor, the temporary sporting event wager ticket validation number to a sporting event wager ticket validation number associated with the placed sporting event wager on the outcome of the sporting event. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the conditional sporting event wager and the placed sporting event wager are each associated with a sporting event wager ticket validation number. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the conversion event occurs responsive to any of a satisfaction of a first condition associated with the sporting event and a satisfaction of a second condition associated with a quantity of sporting event wagers placed in association with the sporting event. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the sporting event comprises any of a live sporting event, a historic sporting event, a recreated sporting event and an electronic sporting event. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the outcome of the sporting event comprises an outcome of an in-game event of the sporting event.
