Uplink transmissions for dual connectivity
Abstract
Methods and apparatus are provided for a User Equipment (UE) configured by a Master enhanced NodeB (MeNB) for operation with dual connectivity to a Secondary eNB (SeNB) to determine a power for transmission to the MeNB and a power for transmission to the SeNB in a subframe when a total power the UE determines according to power control processes for transmission to the MeNB and for transmission to the SeNB exceeds a maximum transmission power in the subframe. Methods and apparatus are also provided for the MeNB to select one or more antenna ports the UE uses to transmit to the MeNB and inform the selected antenna ports to the UE.

1 . A method, comprising:
receiving information indicating:
a first set of antennas for transmission to a first reception point, and
a second set of antennas for transmission to a second reception point; and
transmitting:
one or more signals to the first reception point using the first set of antennas, and
one or more signals to the second reception point using the second set of antennas.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving information for a first maximum power for transmissions from the first set of antennas and for a second maximum power for transmissions from the second set of antennas.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
transmitting a power headroom report for transmissions from the first set of antennas to the first reception point.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmissions from the first set of antennas are during different time intervals than transmissions from the second set of antennas.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving information for a measurement gap; and transmitting from the first set of antennas to the second reception point, or from the second set of antennas to the first reception point, within the measurement gap.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
receiving downlink control signaling providing the information for the measurement gap.
7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein transmissions within the measurement gap are only for sounding reference signals (SRS).
8 . A user equipment (UE), comprising:
a receiver configured to receive information indicating:
a first set of antennas for transmission to a first reception point, and
a second set of antennas for transmission to a second reception point; and
a transmitter configured to transmit:
one or more signals to the first reception point using the first set of antennas, and
one or more signals to the second reception point using the second set of antennas.
9 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein:
the receiver is further configured to receive information for a first maximum power for transmissions from the first set of antennas and for a second maximum power for transmissions from the second set of antennas.
10 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein:
the transmitter is further configured to transmit a power headroom report for transmissions from the first set of antennas to the first reception point.
11 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein:
the transmitter is further configured to transmit from the first set of antennas to the first reception point during different time intervals than from the second set of antennas to the second reception point.
12 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein:
the receiver is further configured to receive information for a measurement gap; and the transmitter is further configured to transmit from the first set of antennas to the second reception point, or from the second set of antennas to the first reception point, within the measurement gap.
13 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein:
the receiver is further configured to receive downlink control signaling providing the information for the measurement gap.
14 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein transmissions within the measurement gap are only for sounding reference signals (SRS).
15 . A base station, comprising:
a transmitter configured to transmit information indicating:
a first set of antennas for transmission to a first reception point, and
a second set of antennas for transmission to a second reception point; and
a receiver configured to receive:
one or more signals from the first set of antennas at the first reception point, and
one or more signals from the second set of antennas at the second reception point.
16 . The base station of claim 15 , wherein:
the transmitter is further configured to transmit information for a first maximum power for transmissions from the first set of antennas and for a second maximum power for transmissions from the second set of antennas.
17 . The base station of claim 15 , wherein:
the receiver is further configured to receive a power headroom report for transmissions from the first set of antennas to the first reception point.
18 . The base station of claim 15 , wherein:
the receiver is further configured to receive from the first set of antennas at the first reception point during different time intervals than from the second set of antennas at the second reception point.
19 . The base station of claim 15 , wherein:
the transmitter is further configured to transmit information for a measurement gap; and the receiver is further configured to receive from the first set of antennas at the second reception point, or from the second set of antennas at the first reception point, within the measurement gap.
20 . The base station of claim 19 , wherein:
