Abstract

Various embodiments are generally directed to copying data to a clipboard of a mobile device from a contactless card using NFC. A mobile device may issue a request to read data from the contactless card. The contactless card may generate encrypted data in response to the request. The mobile device may receive the encrypted data via NFC and transmit the encrypted data to a server for verification. The server may verify the encrypted data and transmit an indication of an account number for the contactless card to the mobile device. The mobile device may then copy the account number to a clipboard of the mobile device.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, by an application executing on a device via a wireless communications interface of the device, a cryptogram generated by a contactless card; incrementing, by the application, a value of a tap counter responsive to receiving the cryptogram; receiving, by the application from a server, verification of the cryptogram; receiving, by the application, an account number associated with the account; and copying, by the application based on the value of the tap counter, the account number to a clipboard of an operating system (OS) executing on the device.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving, by the application prior to copying the account number to the clipboard, an expiration date of the account number and a card verification value (CVV) associated with the account number.

         3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the account number is received based on a first tap of the contactless card to the device, the method further comprising:
 incrementing, by the application, the value of the tap counter responsive to a second tap of the contactless card to the device; and copying, by the application based on the value of the tap counter, one of the expiration date or the CVV to the clipboard.

         4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the value of the tap counter counts each tap of the contactless card to the device, wherein each tap brings the contactless card within wireless communications range of the device.

         5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the account number is received from one of the contactless card or the server, the method further comprising:
 transmitting the cryptogram to the server prior to receiving the verification.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 pasting, by the OS from the clipboard, the account number to a first form field of a form.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the account number is encrypted, the method further comprising decrypting the encrypted account number.

         8 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
 receive, via a wireless communications interface, a cryptogram generated by a contactless card; increment a value of a tap counter responsive to receiving the cryptogram; receive, from a server, verification of the cryptogram; receive an account number associated with the account; and copy, based on the value of the tap counter, the account number to a clipboard of an operating system (OS) executing on the processor.

         9 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , further comprising instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
 receive, prior to copying the account number to the clipboard, an expiration date of the account number and a card verification value (CVV) associated with the account number.

         10 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the account number is received based on a first tap of the contactless card to a device comprising the processor, the medium further comprising instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
 increment the value of the tap counter responsive to a second tap of the contactless card to the device; and copy, based on the value of the tap counter, one of the expiration date or the CVV to the clipboard.

         11 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the value of the tap counter counts each tap of the contactless card to the device, wherein each tap brings the contactless card within wireless communications range of the device.

         12 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the account number is received from one of the contactless card or the server, the medium further comprising instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
 transmit the cryptogram to the server prior to receiving the verification.

         13 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , further comprising instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
 paste, by the OS from the clipboard, the account number to a first form field of a form.

         14 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the account number is encrypted, the medium further comprising instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
 decrypt the encrypted account number.

         15 . A computing device, comprising:
 a processor; a wireless communications interface; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
 receive, via the wireless communications interface, a cryptogram generated by a contactless card;
 increment a value of a tap counter responsive to receiving the cryptogram;
 receive, from a server, verification of the cryptogram;
 receive an account number associated with the account; and
 copy, based on the value of the tap counter, the account number to a clipboard of an operating system (OS) executing on the processor.

         16 . The device of claim 15 , the memory storing instructions which when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
 receive, prior to copying the account number to the clipboard, an expiration date of the account number and a card verification value (CVV) associated with the account number.

         17 . The device of claim 16 , wherein the account number is received based on a first tap of the contactless card to the device, the memory storing instructions which when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
 increment the value of the tap counter responsive to a second tap of the contactless card to the device; and copy, based on the value of the tap counter, one of the expiration date or the CVV to the clipboard.

         18 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the value of the tap counter counts each tap of the contactless card to the device, wherein each tap brings the contactless card within wireless communications range of the device.

         19 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the account number is received from one of the contactless card or the server, the memory storing instructions which when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
