Medicament injection device

Abstract

A medicament injection device comprising: a needle holder holding a needle, a pivotable cartridge holder, the pivotable cartridge holder being pivotable from an open state to a closed state, wherein the pivotable cartridge holder is arranged to receive a medicament cartridge in the open state, and wherein the needle holder is axially movable towards the pivotable cartridge holder when the pivotable cartridge holder is in the closed state.

1 . A medicament injection device comprising:
 a needle holder holding a needle,   a pivotable cartridge holder, the pivotable cartridge holder being pivotable from an open state to a closed state,   wherein the pivotable cartridge holder is arranged to receive a medicament cartridge in the open state, and wherein the needle holder is axially movable towards the pivotable cartridge holder when the pivotable cartridge holder is in the closed state, and   
       wherein the medicament injection device further comprises a cap that protects the needle prior to first use of the device, wherein, in use, when the cartridge holder is in the closed state a user can move the cap axially in the proximal direction to cause the needle holder to move in the proximal direction towards the cartridge holder. 
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the medicament cartridge comprises a septum and wherein movement of the cap in the proximal direction causes the needle to pierce the septum. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the pivotable cartridge holder is pivotable about a bearing axis towards the proximal end. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a needle shield for protecting a distal end of the needle. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a solid foil for protecting a proximal end of the needle. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a compressible spacer to protect the solid foil. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the pivotable cartridge holder contains a cartridge containing a medicament. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the device is an auto-injector. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , comprising a body, wherein the cartridge holder pivots towards the body from the open state to the closed state. 
     
     
         10 . A medicament injection device comprising:
 a needle holder holding a needle,   a pivotable cartridge holder, the pivotable cartridge holder being pivotable from an open state to a closed state,   wherein the pivotable cartridge holder is arranged to receive a medicament cartridge in the open state, and wherein the needle holder is axially movable towards the pivotable cartridge holder when the pivotable cartridge holder is in the closed state, and   
       wherein the medicament injection device further comprises a clip configured to secure the pivotable cartridge holder in the closed state once the pivotable cartridge holder has been moved to the closed state. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 10 , further comprising a main body, and wherein the clip is configured to secure the pivotable cartridge holder relative to the main body subsequent to closing the cartridge holder. 
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 10 , wherein the clip comprises a hook. 
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 10 , further comprising a carrier configured to receive the pivotable cartridge holder in the closed state. 
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the carrier comprises a recess that is configured to receive the clip. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the clip comprises a tapered surface configured to slide past the carrier as the pivotable cartridge holder is moved from the open state to the closed state. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 10 , wherein the clip is configured to provide resistance to the pivotable cartridge holder being moved from the open state to the closed state. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 10 , wherein the clip prevents movement of the cartridge holder from the closed state to the open state such that closing of the pivotable cartridge holder is not reversible. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 10 , wherein the clip is arranged to prevent accidental closure of the pivotable cartridge holder. 
     
     
         19 . A medicament injection device comprising:
 a needle holder holding a needle,   a pivotable cartridge holder, the pivotable cartridge holder being pivotable from an open state to a closed state,   wherein the pivotable cartridge holder is arranged to receive a medicament cartridge in the open state, and wherein the needle holder is axially movable towards the pivotable cartridge holder when the pivotable cartridge holder is in the closed state, and   wherein the medicament injection device further comprises a carrier for the cartridge holder and a needle sleeve with a locking member configured to engage a recess in the carrier to prevent movement of the needle sleeve relative to the carrier when the cartridge holder is in the open state, wherein the cartridge holder comprises an unlocking member for disengaging the locking member from the recess when the cartridge holder is moved to the closed state.   
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 19 , wherein the unlocking member is configured to push the locking member to disengage the locking member from the recess.
