Abstract

Secure content transfer systems and methods to operate the same are disclosed. Disclosed example systems include a client device for use at a physical location and a media server for use at the physical location. The example media server includes a security device to determine a first encryption secret based on a first encryption key and to determine a second encryption secret based on a second encryption key. The media server also includes a decrypter to decrypt received encrypted content for requested content based on the first encryption secret and an encrypter to re-encrypt the decrypted content data for the requested content based on the second encryption secret. In addition, the media server includes an interface to send the re-encrypted content data to the client device, wherein the client device is to decrypt the re-encrypted content data based on the second encryption secret to access the requested content.

What is claimed:

         1 . A system comprising:
a client device for use at a first physical location and a second physical location; and a media server for use at the first physical location, the media server including: a security device to determine a first encryption secret based on a first encryption key and to determine a second encryption secret based on a second encryption key; a decrypter to decrypt received encrypted content for requested content based on the first encryption secret to determine decrypted content data tor the requested content; an encrypter to re-encrypt the decrypted content data for the requested content based on the second encryption secret to determine re-encrypted content data; and an interface to send the re-encrypted content data to the client device, wherein the client device is to decrypt the re-encrypted content data based on the second encryption secret to access the requested content.

2 . The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the media server and the client device are communicatively coupled via an Internet network.

3 . The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the security device is to determine the second encryption secret based on scrambling a seed number with the second encryption key.

4 . The system as defined in claim 3 , wherein the seed number is a content identifier for the requested content.

5 . The system as defined in claim 3 , wherein scrambling includes cryptographically hashing the seed number with the second encryption key.

6 . The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the media server is to receive the first encryption key, the second encryption key, and the encrypted content data via an Internet Protocol delivery mechanism.

7 . The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the media server is to send the second encryption secret to the client device.

         8 . A method comprising;
determining, by executing an instruction with a processor, a first encryption secret based on a first encryption key; determining, by executing an instruction with the processor, a second encryption secret based on a second encryption key; decrypting, by executing an instruction with the processor, received encrypted content for requested content based on the first encryption secret to determine decrypted content data for the requested content: re-encrypting, by executing an instruction with the processor, the decrypted content data for the requested content based on the second encryption secret to determine re-encrypted content data; and sending, by executing an instruction with the processor, the re-encrypted content data to a client device, wherein the client device is to decrypt the re-encrypted content data based on the second encryption secret to access the requested content, and wherein the processor is located at a first physical location and the client device is usable at the first physical location and a second physical location.

9 . The method as defined in claim 8 , wherein the processor and the client device are communicatively coupled via an Internet network.

10 . The method as defined in claim 8 , further including scrambling a seed number with the second encryption key to determine the second encryption secret.

11 . The method as defined in claim 10 , wherein the seed number is a content identifier for the requested content.

12 . The method as defined in claim 10 , wherein scrambling includes cryptographically hashing the see number with the second encryption key.

13 . The method as defined in claim 8 , further including receiving the first encryption key, the second encryption key, and the encrypted content data via an Internet Protocol delivery mechanism.

14 . The method as defined in claim 8 , further including sending, by executing an instruction with the processor, the second encryption secret to the client device.

15 . An article of manufacture comprising machine-readable instructions which, when executed, cause a machine located at a first location to at least:
determine a first encryption secret based on a first encryption key; determine a second encryption secret based on a second encryption key; decrypt received encrypted content for requested content based on the first encryption secret to determine decrypted content data for the requested content; re-encrypt the decrypted content data for the requested content based on the second encryption secret to determine re-encrypted content data; and send the re-encrypted content data to a client device, wherein the client device is to decrypt the re encrypted content data based on the second encryption secret to access the requested content, and the client device is usable at the first physical location and a second physical location.

16 . The article of manufacture as defined in claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the machine to scramble a seed number with the second encryption key to determine the second encryption secret.

17 . The article of manufacture as defined in claim 15 , wherein the seed number is a content identifier for the requested content.

18 . The article of manufacture as defined in claim 16 , wherein the machine is to scramble by cryptographically hashing the seed number with the second encryption key.

19 . The article of manufacture as defined in claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the machine to receive the first encryption key, the second encryption key, and the encrypted content data via an Internet Protocol delivery mechanism.

20 . The article of manufacture as defined in claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the machine to send the second encryption secret to the client device.
