System and method for touch-based communications

Abstract

Disclosed is a system and method for an interactive communication experience on mobile devices. In general, the present disclosure discusses dynamically manipulating or modifying graphic user representations during an electronic communication. The modification or manipulation of these graphic user representations enables users to convey nuances of mood and feelings rather than being confined to conveying them through conventional communications, including text, images, video, or selecting an appropriate emoticon or avatar from a palette of predetermined emoticons or avatars.

         21 . A method comprising:
 receiving, by a device, text input for creation of a message;   inserting, by the device, a graphical image within the message;   receiving, by the device, instructions that modify the graphical image; and   sending, by the device, the message to a recipient, the message comprising the text input and the modified graphical image.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the instructions to modify the graphical image comprise altering an original displayed feature of the graphical image in a manner that changes how the graphical image is displayed. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the feature corresponds to a component of a displayed digital representation within the graphical image. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the feature corresponds to a background of the graphical image. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the graphical image is part of a palette of predefined images, wherein the instructions to modify enable personalization of the graphical image prior to transmission of the message to the recipient. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the graphical image corresponds to a tenor of the text. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the graphical image is an emoticon.

         29 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium tangibly encoded with computer-executable instructions, that when executed by a device, perform a method comprising:
 receiving, by the device, text input for creation of a message;   inserting, by the device, a graphical image within the message;   receiving, by the device, instructions that modify the graphical image; and   sending, by the device, the message to a recipient, the message comprising the text input and the modified graphical image.   
     
     
         30 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 29 , wherein the instructions to modify the graphical image comprise altering an original displayed feature of the graphical image in a manner that changes how the graphical image is displayed.

 a processor; and   a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the program logic comprising:
 logic executed by the processor for receiving text input for creation of a message; 
 logic executed by the processor for inserting a graphical image within the message; 
 logic executed by the processor for receiving instructions that modify the graphical image; and 
 logic executed by the processor for sending the message to a recipient, the message comprising the text input and the modified graphical image. 
   
     
     
         38 . The computing device of  claim 37 , wherein the instructions to modify the graphical image comprise altering an original displayed feature of the graphical image in a manner that changes how the graphical image is displayed. 
     
     
         39 . The computing device of  claim 38 , wherein the feature corresponds to at least one of a component of a displayed digital representation within the graphical image and a background of the graphical image. 
     
     
         40 . The computing device of  claim 37 , wherein the graphical image is part of a palette of predefined images, wherein the instructions to modify enable personalization of the graphical image prior to transmission of the message to the recipient.
