Abstract
An occlusive device comprising a braided component which can be inserted into a blood vessel and a delivery system for delivering said occlusive device is described.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A device for filling and occluding a vascular malformation comprising:
a braided occlusive portion comprising a plurality of braided wires; and, an embolic coil; a portion of the braided occlusive portion extending into one end of the embolic coil.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms a circular, elliptical, semi-circular, or rectangular cross-sectional shape.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms a linearly tapered tubular braid.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms a step-tapered profile shape.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms an enlarged, trumpeted shape.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms a variable braid pitch that varies along a length of the braided occlusive portion.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion includes portions that are electropolished and portions that are not electropolished.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of braided wires comprises Nitinol and a radiopaque material.
9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of braided wires comprises wires composed of both 1) Nitinol and 2) platinum or tantalum.
10 . The device of claim 1 , further comprises hydrogel placed on the interior and/or exterior of the braided occlusive portion.
11 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the braided occlusive portion is packed into one end of the embolic coil.
12 . A device for filling and occluding a vascular malformation comprising:
a braided occlusive portion comprising a plurality of braided wires; the braided occlusive portion forming an elliptical or rectangular cross-sectional shape; and, a first embolic coil; a first portion of the braided occlusive portion being linearly tapered and extending into a first end of the first embolic coil.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of braided wires comprises wires composed of both 1) Nitinol and 2) platinum or tantalum.
14 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the braided occlusive portion forms a variable braid pitch that varies along a length of the braided occlusive portion.
15 . The device of claim 12 , further comprises a second embolic coil; a second portion of the braided occlusive portion being linearly tapered and packed into a second end of the second embolic coil.
16 . A device for filling and occluding a vascular malformation comprising:
a braided occlusive portion comprising a plurality of braided wires; a first embolic coil; a first portion of the braided occlusive portion extending into a first end of the first embolic coil; and, a second embolic coil; a second portion of the braided occlusive portion extending into a second end of the second embolic coil.
17 . The device of claim 16 , further comprises hydrogel placed on the interior and/or exterior of the braided occlusive portion.
18 . The device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of braided wires forms a braid angle of 30 to 150 degrees.
19 . The device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of braided wires forms a braid angle of 68 to 143 degrees.
20 . The device of claim 16 , wherein the braided occlusive portion is packed into a second end of the second embolic coil.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
