Fishing lure

Abstract

An artificial fishing lure has a lure body and a hollow sleeve. The hollow sleeve has a front end and an opening. The opening is extendable over an end of the lure body in response to the sleeve being removably mounted over the end of the lure body using the opening. At least one hole through the sleeve is disposed at a location that allows communication between an interior of the sleeve and an environment exterior to the sleeve.

1 . An artificial fishing lure, comprising:
 a lure body;   a hollow sleeve having a front end and an opening, the opening extendable over an end of the lure body in response to the sleeve being removably mounted over the end of the lure body using the opening such that at least one hole through the sleeve is disposed at a location that allows communication between an interior of the sleeve and an environment exterior to the sleeve.   
     
     
         2 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein, in response to the sleeve being mounted over the end of the lure body the sleeve elastically constricts around the end of the lure body to hold the sleeve thereto with a removable friction fit between the end of the lure body and the sleeve within the opening such that a rear of the lure body extends outwardly from the opening of the sleeve in a direction away from the front end of the sleeve. 
     
     
         3 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 2 , wherein, in response to the sleeve being mounted over the end of the lure body, a scent material is dynamically inserted by a user between the sleeve and end of the lure body into the interior of the sleeve and the scent material is gradually released from the interior or the sleeve through one or more of the at least one hole and the friction fit. 
     
     
         4 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve is impervious to liquid passing therethrough. 
     
     
         5 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve is a contiguous water resistant solid sheet of material that prevents water from entering the interior thereof. 
     
     
         6 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the interior of the sleeve has a same diameter as the lure body. 
     
     
         7 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the interior of the sleeve has a different diameter than the lure body. 
     
     
         8 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve includes a diving lip mounted to a front of the sleeve to regulate a depth of the artificial fishing lure while being pulled through water. 
     
     
         9 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve includes at least one appendage mounted thereto. 
     
     
         10 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve includes a divided skirt design mounted opposite the front thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , further comprising a hook, with an eye and a barb, the hook mounted to the fishing lure in a position that allows a fish to be impaled on the hook and retained by the barb. 
     
     
         12 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 11 , wherein the hook comprises a lead head that is positioned within the interior of the sleeve and the eye extends through the at least one hole through the sleeve. 
     
     
         13 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , further comprising a fish scent attractant material disposed within the interior of the sleeve. 
     
     
         14 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , further comprising a weight material disposed within the interior of the sleeve. 
     
     
         15 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , further comprising a flotation material disposed within the interior of the sleeve. 
     
     
         16 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one plug removably positioned in the at least one hole. 
     
     
         17 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve includes at least one partition positioned in the interior of the sleeve. 
     
     
         18 . The artificial fishing lure of  claim 17 , wherein the at least one partition of the sleeve comprises at least two partitions forming at least one cavity and having at least one flap covering the at least one cavity. 
     
     
         19 . A system, comprising:
 a plurality of interchangeable lure bodies; and   a plurality of interchangeable sleeves for the lure bodies, the sleeves being separate elements and removably couplable to the lure bodies, each of the plurality of interchangeable sleeves having a front end and an opening, the opening of a selected one of the interchangeable sleeves is removably extendable over an end of any selected one of the interchangeable lure bodies using the opening such that at least one hole through the selected interchangeable sleeve is disposed at a location that allows communication between the an interior of the selected interchangeable sleeve and an environment exterior of the selected interchangeable sleeve.   
     
     
         20 . A method, comprising:
 extending an opening of a sleeve over a lure body to create a cavity between the sleeve and the lure body;   forming at least one hole through the sleeve at a location that allows communication between the cavity and an environment exterior to the sleeve;   dynamically inserting a scent material between the sleeve and the lure body into the cavity; and   gradually releasing the scent material from one or more of the opening of the sleeve and the at least one hole through the sleeve into surrounding water.
