Abstract

The present disclosure relates to methods for diagnosing hematological cancers. In particular, the present invention relates to a method for diagnosing a hematological cancer in a patient comprising i) detecting the presence of CD45RARO NK cells in a sample obtained from the patient and ii) and concluding that the patient suffers from a hematological cancer when the presence of CD45RARO NK cells is detected in the sample and the presence of at least one phenotypic marker indicates the nature of the haematological cancer.

1 . A diagnostic tool of hematological cancers comprising means for detecting CD45RARO NK cells. 
     
     
         2 . The diagnostic tool according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 the means of detection of CD45RARO NK cells involves the use of a set of binding partners that are suitable for distinguishing NK cells from other cells and a set of binding partner comprising at least one differential binding partner directed specific for CD45RA and at least one differential binding partner directed specific for CD45RO.   
     
     
         3 . The diagnostic tool according to  claim 1 , wherein it comprises means for detecting the presence of at least one phenotypic marker on said CD45RARO NK cells wherein the presence of this at least one phenotypic marker indicates the nature of the haematological cancer. 
     
     
         4 . The diagnostic tool according to  claim 3 , wherein it comprises means for detecting the presence of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20 phenotypic markers.

         6 . A method comprising:
 i) providing a blood or bone marrow sample obtained from a patient,   ii) detecting the presence of CD45RARO NK cells in the sample obtained from the patient using the diagnostic tool according to  claim 1 ,   and iii) and concluding that the patient suffers from a haematological cancer when the presence of CD45RARO NK cells is detected in the sample.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , comprising comparing the presence of CD45RARO NK cells in the sample obtained from the patient to the presence of CD45RARO NK cells in a sample obtained from a healthy donor. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the haematological cancer is selected from the group consisting of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the step consisting of detecting the presence of CD45RARO NK cells involves use of a set of binding partners that are suitable for distinguishing NK cells from other cells and a set of binding partner comprising at least one differential binding partner directed specific for CD45RA and at least one differential binding partner directed specific for CD45RO. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6 , which further comprises the steps of detecting the presence of at least one phenotypic marker on said CD45RARO NK cells wherein the presence of this at least one phenotypic marker indicates the nature of the haematological cancer. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , which comprises the step consisting of detecting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20 phenotypic markers.

         14 . A method comprising:
 i) providing a blood or bone marrow sample from a patient suffering from a haematological cancer and having a treatment,   ii) detecting the presence of CD45RARO NK cells in the sample from the patient using the diagnostic tool according to  claim 1  and   iii) and concluding that the treatment of the patient is efficient when the presence of CD45RARO NK cells is not detected in the sample.   
     
     
         15 . A method for treating haematological cancer in a subject in need thereof comprising the steps of:
 (i) identifying a subject having a haematological cancer using the diagnostic tool according to  claim 1 ,   (ii) treating said subject having a haematological cancer with a chemotherapeutic agent, a targeted cancer therapy, an immunotherapeutic agent or a radiotherapeutic agent.
