User-Lock Browser Extension

Abstract

Methods and systems described herein may monitor, by a browser, activity of a user within a web page displayed by the browser. Based on detecting, by the browser, an attempt by the first user to perform a financial transaction with an online vendor and associated with a financial account, biometric information associated with the user may be captured by the browser. Based on the captured biometric information, the browser may determine whether the first user is authorized to perform financial transactions with the online vendor and associated with the financial account. Based on a determination that the user is not authorized to perform the financial transaction, the browser may modify at least one element of the webpage to block the user from performing the financial transaction with the online vendor.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 capturing, by a computing device, biometric information associated with a first user;   modifying, based on a determination that the first user is not authorized to access a first web page, one or more interactive features of the first web page to block the first user from accessing the first web page;   capturing, after modifying the one or more interactive features of the first web page, biometric information associated with a current user;   determining, based on the captured biometric information associated with the current user, whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device; and   enabling, based on a determination that the first user has ceased using the computing device, the one or more interactive features of the first web page.   
     
     
         2 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , wherein the modifying the one or more interactive features of the first web page comprises at least one of:
 disabling one or more user selectable options in the first web page;   disabling the one or more interactive features of the first web page; or   hiding one or more portions of content of the first web page.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the biometric information associated with the current user is captured periodically. 
     
     
         4 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , wherein the biometric information comprises at least one of:
 an image of a face of the current user,   a voice sample provided by the current user,   a retinal scan of the current user, or   a fingerprint provided by the current user.   
     
     
         5 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 notifying, based on the determination that the first user is not authorized, the first user that the first user is not authorized to access the first web page.   
     
     
         6 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , wherein the determining whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device further comprises comparing captured biometric information to stored biometric information. 
     
     
         7 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more features of the first web page comprise one or more options for completing a financial transaction. 
     
     
         8 . A computing device comprising:
 one or more processors; and   memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
 capture biometric information associated with a first user; 
 modify, based on a determination that the first user is not authorized to access a first web page, one or more interactive features of the first web page to block the first user from accessing the first web page; 
 capture, after modifying the one or more interactive features of the first web page, biometric information associated with a current user; 
 determine, based on the captured biometric information associated with the current user, whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device; and 
 enable, based on a determination that the first user has ceased using the computing device, the one or more interactive features of the first web page. 
   
     
     
         9 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to modify the one or more interactive features of the first web page by disabling one or more user selectable options in the first web page, disabling the one or more interactive features of the first web page, or hiding one or more portions of content of the first web page. 
     
     
         10 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the biometric information associated with the current user is captured periodically. 
     
     
         11 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the biometric information comprises at least one of:
 an image of a face of the current user,   a voice sample provided by the current user,   a retinal scan of the current user, or   a fingerprint provided by the current user.   
     
     
         12 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to notify, based on the determination that the first user is not authorized, the first user that the first user is not authorized to access the first web page. 
     
     
         13 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to determine whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device by comparing captured biometric information to stored biometric information. 
     
     
         14 . The computing device of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more features of the first web page comprise one or more options for completing a financial transaction. 
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed, configure a computing device to:
 capture biometric information associated with a first user;   modify, based on a determination that the first user is not authorized to access a first web page, one or more interactive features of the first web page to block the first user from accessing the first web page;   capture, after modifying the one or more interactive features of the first web page, biometric information associated with a current user;   determine, based on the captured biometric information associated with the current user, whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device; and   enable, based on a determination that the first user has ceased using the computing device, the one or more interactive features of the first web page.   
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the computing device to modify the one or more interactive features of the first web page by disabling one or more user selectable options in the first web page, disabling the one or more interactive features of the first web page, or hiding one or more portions of content of the first web page. 
     
     
         17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the biometric information comprises at least one of:
 an image of a face of the current user,   a voice sample provided by the current user,   a retinal scan of the current user, or   a fingerprint provided by the current user.   
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the computing device to notify, based on the determination that the first user is not authorized, the first user that the first user is not authorized to access the first web page. 
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to determine whether the first user is continuing to use the computing device by comparing captured biometric information to stored biometric information. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the one or more features of the first web page comprise one or more options for completing a financial transaction.
