Abstract

A system for installing pre-painted moldings. The system includes pre-painted moldings each configured to be fastened to a wall by fasteners. The system also includes a caulk material, filler material, concealer material, and touchup paint each color matched to the paint color applied to the moldings. The caulk material is configured to fill a gap defined between each of the moldings and the wall to which the molding is fastened. The filler material is configured to fill a gap defined between any abutting portions of the moldings. The concealer material is configured to conceal any surface disturbances caused by the installation of the fasteners. The touchup paint is configured to adhere to the paint pre-painted on the moldings. The system may also include a marker configured to apply a coating color matched to the paint applied to the moldings, a scraping tool, and/or a buffing tool.

21 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising offering a scraping tool for sale, the scraping tool being configured to remove any excess filler material protruding from the gap defined between the pair of abutting moldings of the plurality of moldings installed on the one or more walls.

22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising offering a buffing tool for sale, the buffing tool being configured to buff any areas where the scraping tool was used to remove excess filler material.

23 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising offering a scraping tool for sale, the scraping tool being configured to remove excess concealer material.

24 . The method of claim 23 , further comprising offering a buffing tool for sale, the buffing tool being configured to buff any areas where the scraping tool was used to remove excess concealer material.

25 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising:
color matching a second paint to the applied color of the first paint, the second paint being configured to adhere to the first paint applied to the plurality of moldings after the plurality of moldings have been purchased and to be applied to the plurality of moldings after the plurality of moldings have been installed, the second paint being offered for sale in the kit along with the concealer material and the filler material.

26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the applied first paint has an applied sheen, and the method further comprises:
sheen matching the second paint to the applied sheen of the first paint.

27 . A method of installing finished molding on a plurality of walls, the method comprising:
purchasing a plurality of pre-painted moldings from a seller, each having been painted with a substantially identical paint color; fastening the plurality of pre-painted moldings on a plurality of walls using a plurality of fasteners, each of the plurality of fasteners forming a hole in the plurality of pre-painted moldings, at least a portion of the plurality of pre-painted moldings abutting other ones of the plurality of pre-painted moldings with a gap being defined betweenabutting pre-painted moldings; purchasing a kit comprising a concealer material and a filler material both of which were color matched by the seller of the plurality of pre-painted moldings to the paint color of the plurality of pre-painted moldings, the concealer material being configured by the seller to adhere to the paint of the plurality of pre-painted moldings; applying the concealer material to the holes formed by the plurality of fasteners; and installing the filler material in the gaps defined between the abutting pre-painted moldings fastened to the plurality of walls.
