Hair brush with slideable brush head
Abstract
A hair brush with a slideable brush head that allows the brush head to be positioned on either end of the elongated handle to thereby providing ease of use by both right handed or left handed users. The elongated handle arrests the brush head in any desired position via the use of activating flanges that depress an activating rod held in place with compression springs with a cam and arresting balls in the center of the handle. When the activating rod is depressed, the cam is displaced by the compression springs which in turn releases the arresting balls creating a smooth surface of travel for the brush head therealong. The brush head may also be removed from the handle, if so desired, so that a brush head of a different circumference but the same inner diameter may be used. The handle is streamlined and elliptical in shape and contains rubber cushions for easier grip.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat I claim is:
1 . A hair grooming device comprising:
a brush head that is substantially round, having a first end and a second end and having an elliptical hollow center; an elongated handle having an exterior top half, an exterior bottom half, an interior created by the attachment of said exterior top half with said exterior bottom half, a first end and a second end wherein said brush head is movable between said first end of said elongated handle and said second end of said elongated handle along said exterior top half and bottom half wherein said brush head has the same inner elliptical diameter as said elongated handle; a first aperture in said top half substantially halfway along the length of said handle; a second aperture in said bottom half substantially halfway along the length of said handle wherein when said top half and said bottom half are connected a first opening and a second opening are created, both said first and second openings being positioned substantially on opposing sides of said handle substantially halfway along the length of said handle; a first activating rod extending from said first end of said elongated handle and having a first activating flange proximate said first end and a first activating clevis proximate said handle center; a second activating rod extending from said second end of said elongated handle and having a second activating flange proximate said second end and a second activating clevis proximate said handle center; a scissor-style spring having doubly opposing inclined planes and being positioned between said first activating rod and said second activating rod; a first compression spring between said first activating flange and said handle; a second compression spring between said second activating flange and said handle wherein when one of either of said first or second activating rods is depressed through the application of force to either said first or second activating flanges, said first or activating clevis displaces said inclined planes of said scissor-style spring thereby moving said first and second arresting tips in a radial direction inside of said interior of said handle thereby allowing said brush head to slide therealong until said first or second activating flange is released wherein said first or second activating clevis releases said scissor-style spring returns to its original position and said first and second arresting tips return to said first and second openings and said brush head is secured to said handle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
