. The system of claim 8 , wherein the status indicates the transaction has been approved.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the status indicates the transaction has been denied or flagged for attention.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the status further includes information about the transaction including one or more of: a list of the plurality of items, payment information, a time and place of purchase, retailer information, and/or user identity information.

. The system of claim 16 , wherein the validated transaction is at least based on a verification of the unique code, the verification comprising comparing embedded information from the unique code to a table, the table comprising valid purchase information.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the capturing device includes a camera or a laser code reader.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the display is configured to display one or more of: information related to the plurality of items purchased, a user's name, a total purchase, an amount, a time and place of purchase and other data usable to verify the purchase.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the communication circuitry is within the mobile device.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the remote server comprises:
server communications circuitry; a processor and memory that receive from the server communications circuitry information associated with the transaction; instructions running on the processor and stored in the memory that, when executed: process the transaction information for a sale of the plurality of items and generate the unique code.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the remove server comprises:
sever communications circuitry; a processor and memory configured to receive from the server communications circuitry the unique code and verify the unique code by retrieving embedded information from the unique code, the processor and memory further configured to compare the embedded information from the unique code to one or more entries in a table containing valid purchase information; and the server communications circuitry configured to forward the status of the transaction to the communications circuitry.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the unique code captured by the capturing device is displayed by the mobile device and wherein the mobile device comprises a smartphone.

. The system of claim 8 , wherein the capturing device includes a scanner and wherein the unique code is optically scanned by the scanner in association with a verification application.
