Adjustable strap for hat
Abstract
An adjustable connector strap may include two interlocking bodies, wherein one body includes a plurality of teeth located along opposing edges, and the other body includes a plurality of notches located along opposing edges. The user may select the number of teeth that are mated with the notches to adjust the size of the strap. The use of interlocking teeth and notches along the opposed edges of the strap bodies may enhances the ability of the strap to maintain its interlocking strength during tension loads. The teeth and notch engagement may also allow a user to quickly engage or disengage the strap bodies, thereby enhancing the ease-of-use of the strap.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An adjustable connector strap for an article of clothing, the adjustable connector strap comprising:
a first body portion extending along a first longitudinal axis, the first body portion having:
a base having a pair of opposed lateral edges; and
a plurality of teeth extending from the base, the plurality of teeth comprising a first set of teeth and a second set of teeth positioned adjacent respective ones of the pair of opposed lateral edges;
a second body portion extending along a second longitudinal axis, the second body portion having:
a pair of opposed lateral edges; and
a plurality of notches comprising a first set of notches and a second set of notches, the plurality of notches being complimentary in shape to the plurality of teeth;
wherein the second body portion being selectively engageable with the first body portion in a first engaged configuration and a second engaged configuration, a number of teeth being received in a corresponding ones of the plurality of notches increasing as the second body portion transitions from the first engagement configuration to the second engagement configuration; wherein the second body portion includes a plurality of projections which defines a minimum width and the first body portion includes a plurality of tooth portions defining a maximum width; and wherein the minimum width defined by the projection interferes with the maximum width of the tooth portion to retain the first and second body portions on each other.
2 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . The adjustable connector strap recited in claim 1 , wherein each tooth of the first set of teeth is aligned with a corresponding one tooth of the second set of teeth along a respective axis perpendicular to the first longitudinal axis.
22 . The adjustable connector strap recited in claim 1 , wherein each notch of the first set of notches is aligned with a corresponding notch of the second set of notches along a respective axis perpendicular to the second longitudinal axis.
23 . The adjustable connector strap recited in claim 1 , wherein each tooth includes a triangular periphery.
24 . An adjustment strap comprising:
first and second portions, each of the first and second portions defining a first free edge and a second free edge; the first portion having a plurality of teeth arranged in two rows running along the first and second free edges of the first portion; the second portion having a plurality of notches arranged in two rows abutting the first and second free edges of the second portion, the plurality of notches forming an outer profile of the second portion wherein the outer profile of the two rows of notches of the second portion mates and contact with an inner profile of the two rows of teeth of the first portion, and the notches extend out laterally to the free edges to provide a receptacle to receive the teeth of the first portion as the first and second portions are being engaged to each other.
25 . The adjustment strap of claim 1 wherein each of the plurality of teeth has a ridge line and each of the plurality of notches have a lip to enhance the ability of the adjustment strap to maintain its interlocking strength during tension loads.
26 . The adjustment strap of claim 23 wherein the plurality of triangular notches and the plurality of triangular teeth are inwardly directed to facilitate installation, adjustment and disengagement of the first and second portions.
27 . The adjustment strap of claim 1 wherein the first and second portions are fabricated from at least one of plastic, rubber and silicone.
28 . The adjustment strap of claim 1 wherein a ridge line of the plurality of teeth is disposed above a lip of the plurality of notches when the first and second portions are interlocked.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
