Claims

Abstract

Systems, devices and methods for electric stimulation are provided. The system comprises an electrodes' arrangement configured to be placed in the vicinity of a body region to be stimulated; a signal generator configured to supply electric stimulation signals to the electrodes' arrangement; and a control circuitry connected to the signal generator and to the electrodes' arrangement; the electrodes' arrangement comprises a plurality of electrode elements arranged in a spaced-apart relationship and being connected to the signal generator, so as to define spatial resolution of stimulation; the control circuitry determines data indicative of a profile of a stimulating electric field to be produced by the electrodes' arrangement to stimulate at least one desired target in said body region, and selectively assign, for stimulating each target, at least one pair of first and second effective electrodes, each being formed by one or more of said electrode elements, and enable operation of each of said assigned effective electrodes by the signal generator to produce the stimulating electric field.

1 . A method for treating cognitive disorders comprising:
 placing a first stimulation electrode adjacent to a left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex brain region of a user;   placing a second stimulation electrode adjacent to a right inferior frontal gyrus of the user;   providing an electrical stimulation signal between the first stimulation electrode and the second stimulation electrode,   wherein the electrical stimulation signal is comprised of a plurality of frequencies.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the electrical stimulation signal is a random noise stimulation signal. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  or  claim 2 , wherein the cognitive disorder is ADHD. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claims 3 , wherein the stimulation signal is provided for a duration ranging between 5 minutes to 40 minutes. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the stimulation signal is provided for a duration of 20 minutes. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising performing an efficacy measurement to assess an efficacy of the treatment comprising performing EEG measurements of NIRS measurements. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising adjusting a stimulation parameter based on the efficacy measurement or the cognitive task for increasing the efficacy of the treatment. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising providing a cognitive task to the user during the stimulation. 
     
     
         9 . A brain stimulation device for treating cognitive disorders comprising:
 a first stimulation electrode;   a second stimulation electrode;   a wearable cap configured for facilitating placing the first electrode adjacent to a left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex brain region of a user and placing the second electrode adjacent to a right inferior frontal gyrus of the user;   a controller connectable to the first stimulation electrode and second stimulation electrode, and configured to provide an electrical stimulation signal between the first stimulation electrode and the second stimulation electrode,   wherein the electrical stimulation signal is comprised of a plurality of frequencies.   
     
     
         10 . The brain stimulation device of  claim 9 , wherein the electrical stimulation signal is a random noise stimulation signal. 
     
     
         11 . The brain stimulation device of  claims 10 , wherein the stimulation signal is provided for a duration ranging between 5 minutes to 40 minutes. 
     
     
         12 . The brain stimulation device of  claim 11 , wherein the stimulation signal is provided for a duration of 20 minutes. 
     
     
         13 . The brain stimulation device of  claim 10 , further comprising electrodes for performing an efficacy measurement to assess an efficacy of the treatment comprising performing EEG measurements of NIRS measurements. 
     
     
         15 . The brain stimulation device of  claim 13 , wherein the controller is further configured for adjusting a stimulation parameter based on the efficacy measurement or the cognitive task for increasing the efficacy of the treatment.
