Oral product with dissolvable component

Abstract

A pouched product adapted for release of a water-soluble component therefrom is provided herein. The pouched product can include an outer water-permeable pouch defining a cavity containing a composition that includes a water-soluble component capable of being released through the water-permeable pouch, wherein at least one of the outer water-permeable pouch and the composition is orally dissolvable.

1 . A pouched product, comprising:
 an outer water-permeable pouch defining a cavity; and   an oral composition situated in the cavity;   wherein at least one of the outer water-permeable pouch and the composition is orally dissolvable.   
     
     
         2 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises:
 at least one of an active ingredient and a flavorant in an amount of at least about 3% by weight;   a sugar substitute in an amount of at least about 80% by weight; and   a sugar alcohol syrup.   
     
     
         3 . The pouched product of  claim 2 , wherein the sugar substitute is a non-hygroscopic sugar alcohol capable of forming a glassy matrix. 
     
     
         4 . The pouched product of  claim 2 , wherein the sugar substitute is isomalt. 
     
     
         5 . The pouched product of  claim 2 , wherein the sugar substitute is present in an amount of at least about 85% by weight. 
     
     
         6 . The pouched product of  claim 2 , wherein the sugar substitute is present in an amount of at least about 90% by weight. 
     
     
         7 . The pouched product of  claim 2 , wherein the sugar alcohol syrup is maltitol syrup. 
     
     
         8 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition comprises an active ingredient selected from the group consisting of a nicotine component, botanicals, stimulants, nutraceuticals, amino acids, vitamins, cannabinoids, cannabimimetics, terpenes, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         9 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition is in the form of a particulate material having a size in the range of about 0.1 mm to about 5 mm. 
     
     
         10 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the outer water-permeable pouch is orally dissolvable, and wherein the oral composition is orally dissolvable. 
     
     
         11 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition comprises a filler selected from the group consisting of polyols, dextrose, maltodextrin, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition comprises at least one flavorant. 
     
     
         13 . The pouched product of  claim 12 , wherein the amount of flavorant is from about 0.1 to about 0.5 percent by weight of the oral composition. 
     
     
         14 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition is substantially free of a tobacco material. 
     
     
         15 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the oral composition comprises a water-soluble component that is configured to be released through the water-permeable pouch. 
     
     
         16 . The pouched product of  claim 1 , wherein the outer water-permeable pouch is orally dissolvable. 
     
     
         17 . The pouched product of  claim 16 , wherein the outer water-permeable pouch comprises a fibrous material. 
     
     
         18 . The pouched product of  claim 16 , wherein the outer water-permeable pouch comprises at least one hydrophilic polymer. 
     
     
         19 . The pouched product of  claim 16 , wherein the outer water-permeable pouch comprises polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, alginate, gluten, carrageenan, or a combination thereof.
