Abstract
A delivery device for and method of delivering a dose of substance for systemic uptake to a nasal cavity of a subject, the delivery device comprising: a nosepiece unit for insertion into a nasal cavity of a subject and comprising an outlet unit which includes at least one nozzle for delivering substance for systemic uptake substantially only to surfaces in one or both of the anterior region and an anterior section of the posterior region of the nasal cavity of the subject; and a substance supply unit which is operable to deliver a dose of substance to the at least one nozzle.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 78 . (canceled)
79 . A method of delivering substance to a nasal cavity of a subject for systemic uptake, the method comprising:
inserting at least a portion of a nosepiece unit in the nasal cavity of the subject, the nosepiece unit including at least one nozzle for delivering a substance; and causing substance to be delivered from a substance supply unit through the at least one nozzle and into the nasal cavity of the subject, wherein the substance is delivered to an anterior section of the posterior region of the nasal cavity.
80 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the anterior section of the posterior region comprises an anterior third of the posterior region.
81 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the anterior section of the posterior region comprises a mid-anterior third of the posterior region.
82 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the at least one nozzle delivers an aerosol spray.
83 . The method of claim 82 , wherein the aerosol spray is a liquid aerosol.
84 . The method of claim 82 , wherein the aerosol spray is a powder aerosol.
85 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the nosepiece unit includes an anterior nosepiece member which at least partially obstructs an opening of the nasal cavity.
86 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the nosepiece unit further includes a posterior nosepiece member configured to at least partially block a nasal valve of the subject.
87 . The method of claim 79 , further comprising:
exhaling, by the subject, through a mouthpiece and causing closure of the oropharyngeal velum of the subject.
88 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the delivery of the substance is breath actuated on oral exhalation by the subject.
89 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the delivery of the substance is breath actuated on nasal exhalation by the subject.
90 . The method of claim 79 , wherein the delivery of the substance is manually actuated.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
