Abstract
Systems for applying a transcutaneous monitor to a person can include a telescoping assembly, a sensor, and a base with adhesive to couple the sensor to skin. The sensor can be located within the telescoping assembly while the base protrudes from a distal end of the system. The system can be configured to couple the sensor to the base by compressing the telescoping assembly.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A sensor inserter assembly for applying an on-skin component to a skin of a host, comprising:
an on-skin component being movable in at least a distal direction from a proximal position to a distal position, a first securing feature configured to releasably secure the on-skin component in the proximal position, a second securing feature configured to secure the on-skin component in the distal position, and a first resistance feature configured to prevent movement of the on-skin component in a proximal direction at least when the on-skin component is in the distal position.
2 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first resistance feature is configured to prevent movement of the on-skin component in a proximal direction when the on-skin component is secured in the distal position.
3 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first securing feature is configured to releasably secure the on-skin component to a needle assembly.
4 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 2 , wherein the on-skin component comprises a sensor module.
5 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 4 , wherein the sensor module comprises a sensor and a plurality of electrical contacts.
6 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 5 , wherein the sensor is electrically coupled to at least one of the electrical contacts, at least when the sensor inserter assembly is in the first configuration.
7 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the on-skin component comprises a base.
8 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the on-skin component comprises a transmitter.
9 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second securing feature is configured to secure the on-skin component to a second on-skin component.
10 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising at least one distally-extending leg, and wherein the first securing feature comprises an adhesive disposed on a distally-facing surface of the leg.
11 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising at least one distally-extending member, and wherein the first securing feature comprises a surface of the distally-extending member configured to frictionally engage with a corresponding structure of the on-skin component.
12 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 11 , wherein the distally-extending member comprises at least one leg of the sensor inserter assembly.
13 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 11 , wherein the distally-extending member comprises a needle.
14 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second securing feature comprises an adhesive disposed on a distally-facing surface of the on-skin component.
15 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first resistance feature comprises a distally-facing surface of the sensor inserter assembly.
16 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first resistance feature is distal to an adhesive disposed on a distally-facing surface of the on-skin component.
17 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a pusher configured to move the on-skin component from the proximal position to the distal position.
18 . The sensor inserter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a decoupling feature configured to decouple the pusher from the on-skin component at least after the on-skin component is in the distal position.
19 . A method for applying an on-skin component to a skin of a host, comprising:
providing a sensor inserter assembly comprising an on-skin component, a first securing feature, a second securing feature, and a first resistance feature;
releasably securing the on-skin component in the proximal position by the first securing feature on the skin of the host;
moving the on-skin component in at least a distal direction from a proximal position to a distal position on the skin of the host; and
securing the on-skin component in the distal position by a second securing feature, wherein a first resistance feature prevents movement of the on-skin component in a proximal direction at least when the on-skin component is in the distal position.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the first securing feature secures the on-skin component to a needle assembly.
21 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the on-skin component comprises a sensor module.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the sensor module comprises a sensor and a plurality of electrical contacts.
23 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the first resistance feature comprises a distally-facing surface of the sensor inserter assembly.
24 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the first resistance feature is distal to an adhesive disposed on a distally-facing surface of the on-skin component.
25 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the sensor inserter assembly further comprises a pusher, the method further comprising moving the on-skin component from the proximal position to the distal position by the pusher.
26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the sensor inserter assembly further comprises a decoupling feature, the method further comprising decoupling the pusher from the on-skin component by the decoupling feature, at least after the on-skin component is in the distal position.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
