System and method for identifying idle resources in communication endpoints
Abstract
A request to establish a communication session between a first communication endpoint to a second communication endpoint is received. A determination is made that the request to establish the communication session requires an application to be inserted into the communication session between the first communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint. For example, the application may be a call recording application. A first processing resource in a first idle communication endpoint is selected based on an idleness factor of the first processing resource. The application is sent to the first idle communication endpoint. The application in the first idle communication endpoint is then inserted into the communication session between the first communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint.

1 . A communication endpoint, comprising:
a microprocessor; and a computer readable medium, coupled with the microprocessor and comprising microprocessor readable and executable instructions that program the microprocessor to:
establish a first communication session between the communication endpoint and a second communication endpoint;
send a broadcast message to a plurality of communication endpoints;
receive a response to the broadcast message from a third communication endpoint, wherein the response indicates that the third communication endpoint meets an idleness level; and
establish a second communication session with the third communication endpoint based on the idleness level.
2 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the communication endpoint, the second communication endpoint and the third communication endpoint are part of a computer network.
3 . The communication endpoint of claim 2 , wherein the communication endpoint, the second communication endpoint and the third communication endpoint are not computer network elements that relay the first and second communication sessions in the computer network.
4 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the broadcast message is sent if an application is required to be inserted into the first communication session between the communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint.
5 . The communication endpoint of claim 4 , wherein the readable and executable instructions program the microprocessor to send the application to the third communication endpoint.
6 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the readable and executable instructions program the microprocessor to determine if the second communication endpoint initiates a request to establish the first communication session.
7 . The communication endpoint of claim 5 , wherein the application is an audio stream that records the first communication session between the communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint.
8 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the third communication endpoint is inserted into the first communication session.
9 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the idleness level includes an idleness factor which is based on at least one of a calendar event of a user of the third communication endpoint, a usage pattern of the third communication endpoint, identifying that the user of the third communication endpoint is away from the third communication endpoint, a scanned ID card, a location of the user of the third communication endpoint, a location of the third communication endpoint, a login of the user, a biometric scan, and a voice print.
10 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the idleness level includes a best idleness factor from the plurality of communication endpoints.
11 . The communication endpoint of claim 1 , wherein the readable and executable instructions program the microprocessor to receive a response to the broadcast message from each of the plurality of communication endpoints.
12 . A method, comprising:
establishing, by a microprocessor, a first communication session between a first communication endpoint and a second communication endpoint; sending, by the microprocessor, a broadcast message to a plurality of communication endpoints; receiving, by the microprocessor, a response to the broadcast message from a third communication endpoint, wherein the response indicates that the third communication endpoint meets an idleness level; and establishing, by the microprocessor, a second communication session between the first communication endpoint and the third communication endpoint based on the idleness level.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first communication endpoint, the second communication endpoint and the third communication endpoint are part of a computer network.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the first communication endpoint, the second communication endpoint and the third communication endpoint are not computer network elements that relay the first and second communication sessions in the computer network.
15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the broadcast message is sent if an application is required to be inserted into the first communication session between the first communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising sending the application to the third communication endpoint.
17 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining if the second communication endpoint initiates a request to establish the first communication session.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the application is an audio stream that records the first communication session between the first communication endpoint and the second communication endpoint.
19 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the idleness level includes an idleness factor which is based on at least one of a calendar event of a user of the third communication endpoint, a usage pattern of the third communication endpoint, identifying that the user of the third communication endpoint is away from the third communication endpoint, a scanned ID card, a location of the user of the third communication endpoint, a location of the third communication endpoint, a login of the user, a biometric scan, and a voice print.
20 . A system, comprising:
a computer network; and a plurality of communication endpoints coupled to the computer network, wherein each of the plurality of communication endpoints includes:
a microprocessor; and
a computer readable medium, coupled with the microprocessor and comprising microprocessor readable and executable instructions that program the microprocessor to:
establish a first communication session between a first communication endpoint of the plurality of communication endpoints and a second communication endpoint of the plurality of communication endpoints;
send a broadcast message to a remainder of a plurality of communication endpoints;
receive a response to the broadcast message from a third communication endpoint of the plurality of communication endpoints, wherein the response indicates that the third communication endpoint meets an idleness level; and
