Abstract
A system for interactive gaming among a plurality of players includes a host computer system and a plurality of player terminals communicably coupled to the host computer system or gaming platform via a network. The plurality of player terminals may be located at a plurality of licensed gaming locations. The plurality of player terminals may be configured to engage the plurality of players in a common interactive game operated by the host computer system. The plurality of player terminals can include means for dispensing player winnings from the player terminal.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 36 . (canceled)
37 . An electronic gaming system having a host computer, the system comprising:
a gaming platform configured to host an electronic game using the host computer, wherein game play in the electronic game includes betting or wagering and is limited to locations where gambling is permitted; and a gaming application comprising program instructions which, when executed by a processor of a player terminal to facilitate the game play, cause the player terminal to:
connect to the gaming platform via a network; and
transmit data representative of a location of the player terminal to the gaming platform,
wherein the gaming platform is further configured to:
monitor the location of the player terminal;
determine that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is permitted; and
enable the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is permitted.
38 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the player terminal is a mobile device.
39 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the data representative of a location of the player terminal includes at least one of: GPS coordinates obtained by a location deriving technology of the player terminal, and an IP address associated with the player terminal.
40 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the gaming platform is located at a location different from the player terminal.
41 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the electronic game is of a type selected from the group comprising: a card game, fantasy sports, a video game, a casino game, a slot machine game, a live game, a virtual reality game, an interactive game, a multi-player game, a tournament game, a bonus round game, eSports, an arcade game, a pinball game, a game of skill, a game of chance, and a hybrid game of skill and chance.
42 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the gaming platform is further configured to host a plurality of electronic games, and wherein when executed by the processor of the player terminal, the program instructions further cause the player terminal to display a listing of one or more electronic games of the plurality of electronic games to the player.
43 . The electronic gaming system of claim 42 , wherein the gaming platform is further configured to generate, and transmit to the player terminal, the listing of one or more electronic games according to the location of the player terminal.
44 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein when executed by the processor of the player terminal, the program instructions further cause the player terminal to:
transmit, to the gaming platform, inputs from a player relating to actions by the player using the player terminal for the game play in the electronic game; and depict gaming action from the electronic game to the player via the player terminal.
45 . The electronic gaming system of claim 37 , wherein the gaming platform is further configured to:
determine that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is banned; and disable at least a portion of the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is banned.
46 . A method in a host computer for operating an electronic gaming system, the method comprising:
connecting a gaming platform hosting an electronic game using the host computer to a player terminal having a gaming application associated with the gaming platform, wherein game play in the electronic game includes betting or wagering and is limited to locations where gambling is permitted; receiving, from the player terminal, data representative of a location of the player terminal; monitoring the location of the player terminal; determining that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is permitted; and enabling the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is permitted.
47 . The method of claim 46 further comprising:
receiving, from the player terminal, data representative of inputs from a player relating to actions by the player using the player terminal for the game play in the electronic game; and
causing gaming action from the electronic game to be depicted to the player via the player terminal.
48 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the player terminal is a mobile device.
49 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the data representative of a location of the player terminal includes at least one of: GPS coordinates obtained by a location deriving technology of the player terminal, and an IP address associated with the player terminal.
50 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the gaming platform is located at a location different from the player terminal.
51 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the electronic game is of a type selected from the group comprising: a card game, fantasy sports, a video game, a casino game, a slot machine game, a live game, a virtual reality game, an interactive game, a multi-player game, a tournament game, a bonus round game, eSports, an arcade game, a pinball game, a game of skill, a game of chance, and a hybrid game of skill and chance.
52 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the gaming platform is further configured to host a plurality of electronic games, the method further comprising:
causing a listing of one or more electronic games of the plurality of electronic games to be displayed to the player via the player terminal.
53 . The method of claim 52 , wherein causing a listing of one or more electronic games of the plurality of electronic games to be displayed to the player via the player terminal comprises generating, and transmitting to the player terminal, the listing of one or more electronic games according to the location of the player terminal.
54 . The method of claim 46 further comprising determining that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is banned; and
disabling at least a portion of the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is banned.
55 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media having program instructions stored thereon which, when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to:
connect a gaming platform hosting an electronic game to a player terminal having a gaming application associated with the gaming platform, wherein game play in the electronic game includes betting or wagering and is limited to locations where gambling is permitted; receive, from the player terminal, data representative of a location of the player terminal; monitor the location of the player terminal; determine that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is permitted; and enable the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is permitted.
56 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 55 , wherein when executed by the one or more processors of a machine, the program instructions further cause the machine to:
determine that the location of the player terminal is a location where gambling is banned; and disable at least a portion of the game play when the location is determined to be the location where gambling is banned.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
