Abstract

A steam iron for clothes comprising a heating set supported on an upper side of the set by a case with a handle on a top of the case and a rear support plane for resting the iron when not in use. The case embeds a reservoir provided with a re-load opening and comprises a cord to supply electricity to the iron by means of a main power supply. The case also includes a traditional power supply regulated by a typical thermostat. The heating set comprises three overlapping assembled portions: an intermediate portion defined as a heating body, an upper plate for hermetic closing and a lower ironing plate, with a set of ceramic resistors forming a heating plate between the heating body and the lower ironing plate.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 ) A steam iron for clothes comprising:
 (1) a heating set with an upper side that is supported by a case which further comprises:
 i. a handle on an upper part of the case;
 ii. a support plane for resting the iron on a rear part of the case;
 iii. a reservoir with a re-load opening located on the upper part of the case;
 iv. a power cord located on the upper part of the case to supply power to the iron from a main power supply; and
 v. a thermostat assembled on the case that regulates the power supply.

         2 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 1 , wherein the heating set comprises three overlapping assembled portions:
 a) an intermediate portion defined as a heating body; b) an upper plate for hermetic closing; and c) a lower ironing plate.

         3 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 2 , wherein the heating body has, on an upper face, a steam chamber provided with water from a reservoir by a pump or a dripping valve; the steam chamber being defined by a protruding wall labyrinth guiding steam that is produced according to a desired route; the route having a series of vertical holes for passing the steam underneath the heating body, which attaches to a first side of the flat ironing plate with a second side of the flat ironing plate having corresponding holes that align with the vertical holes to release the steam over fabric to be ironed.

         4 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 2 , wherein the upper face of the heating body includes a plurality of projections to attach the hermetic plate and the case.

         5 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 2 , wherein a lower face of the heating body is defined by a first U-shaped plane along which the vertical holes are distributed, with the first U-shaped plane configuring a second recessed plane; the first U-shaped plane and second recessed plane being adjusted over an upper internal plane of the ironing plate.

         6 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 5 , wherein the first U-shaped plane and the second recessed plane form a space for a heat generating set defined by a heating plate made of metal sintered ceramic resistors that is stabilized with thermal paste.

         7 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 6 , wherein the heating plate made of metal sintered ceramic resistors is a rectangular plate that is thick enough to remain in contact with the second recessed plane of the heating body and the upper internal plane of the ironing plate.

         8 ) The steam iron for clothes according to claim 6 , wherein the metal sintered ceramic resistors of the heating plate are linked in series and to the thermostat to receive electricity from the power cord connected to the main power supply.
