Abstract

An infant feeding mat assembly for protecting a floor from spillage when an infant is being fed in an infant high chair includes a first mat that is positionable beneath an infant high chair. The first mat has a pair of slots to accommodate legs of the infant high chair. A second mat is coupled to the first mat such that the second mat is positioned beneath the infant high chair when the first mat is positioned beneath the infant high chair. The second mat is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit food spilled thereon from contacting a support surface. The second mat has a pair of slots therein to accommodate legs of the infant high chair.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I claim:

1 . An infant feeding mat assembly being configured to be positioned on a floor beneath a high chair during infant feeding thereby inhibiting food from being spilled on the floor, said assembly comprising:
a first mat being positionable on a support surface wherein said first mat is configured to be positioned beneath an infant high chair, said first mat having a pair of slots therein wherein each of said slots is configured to accommodate legs of the infant high chair, said first mat being comprised of a deformable material wherein said first mat is configured to inhibit scratching the support surface; and a second mat being coupled to said first mat wherein said second mat is configured to be positioned beneath the infant high chair when said first mat is positioned on the support surface, said second mat being exposed when said first mat is positioned on the support surface, said second mat being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said second mat is configured to inhibit food spilled thereon from contacting the support surface, said second mat having a pair of slots therein, each of said slots in said second mat being aligned with a respective one of said slots in said first mat wherein each of said slots in said second mat is configured to accommodate legs of the infant high chair.

2 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said first mat has a top surface, a bottom surface and a perimeter edge extending therebetween, said perimeter edge having a front side and a back side, each of said slots extending from said front side toward said back side.

3 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein each of said slots is spaced in opposite directions from a centerline of said first mat to define a central flap being positioned between a pair of outward flaps wherein said central flap is configured to be positioned beneath the infant high chair when the legs of the infant high chair are positioned in said slots.

4 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
said first mat has a top surface, a bottom surface and a perimeter edge extending therebetween, said perimeter edge having a front side and a back side, each of said slots extending from said front side toward said back side, each of said slots being spaced in opposite directions from a centerline of said first mat to define a central flap being positioned between a pair of outward flaps wherein said central flap is configured to be positioned beneath the infant high chair when the legs of the infant high chair are positioned in said slots; and said second mat has an upper surface, a lower surface and an exterior edge extending therebetween, said lower surface being bonded to said top surface of said first mat having said exterior edge being aligned with and being coextensive with said perimeter edge of said first mat, said exterior edge having a forward side and a rearward side, each of said slots in said second mat extending from said forward side toward said rearward side.

5 . The assembly according to claim 4 , wherein each of said second slots defines a central flap being positioned between a pair of outward flaps, said central flap of said second mat being aligned with said central flap of said first mat, each of said outward flaps of said second mat being aligned with a respective one of said outward flaps of said first mat.

6 . An infant feeding mat assembly being configured to be positioned on a floor beneath a high chair during infant feeding thereby inhibiting food from being spilled on the floor, said assembly comprising:
a first mat being positionable on a support surface wherein said first mat is configured to be positioned beneath an infant high chair, said first mat having a pair of slots therein wherein each of said slots is configured to accommodate legs of the infant high chair, said first mat being comprised of a deformable material wherein said first mat is configured to inhibit scratching the support surface, said first mat having a top surface, a bottom surface and a perimeter edge extending therebetween, said perimeter edge having a front side and a back side, each of said slots extending from said front side toward said back side, each of said slots being spaced in opposite directions from a centerline of said first mat to define a central flap being positioned between a pair of outward flaps wherein said central flap is configured to be positioned beneath the infant high chair when the legs of the infant high chair are positioned in said slots; and a second mat being coupled to said first mat wherein said second mat is configured to be positioned beneath the infant high chair when said first mat is positioned on the support surface, said second mat being exposed when said first mat is positioned on the support surface, said second mat being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said second mat is configured to inhibit food spilled thereon from contacting the support surface, said second mat having a pair of slots therein, each of said slots in said second mat being aligned with a respective one of said slots in said first mat wherein each of said slots in said second mat is configured to accommodate legs of the infant high chair, said second mat having an upper surface, a lower surface and an exterior edge extending therebetween, said lower surface being bonded to said top surface of said first mat having said exterior edge being aligned with and being coextensive with said perimeter edge of said first mat, said exterior edge having a forward side and a rearward side, each of said slots in said second mat extending from said forward side toward said rearward side, each of said second slots defining a central flap being positioned between a pair of outward flaps, said central flap of said second mat being aligned with said central flap of said first mat, each of said outward flaps of said second mat being aligned with a respective one of said outward flaps of said first mat.

7 . A method of protecting a floor from spillage of food or liquids from feeding an infant, the steps of the method comprising:
providing a first mat having a bottom surface, a top surface and a pair of slots therein, said first mat being comprised of a deformable material; providing a second mat having a lower surface, an upper surface and a pair of slots therein, said lower surface being bonded to said top surface of said first mat having each of said slots in said second mat being aligned with a respective one of said slots in said first mat, said second mat being comprised of a fluid impermeable material; positioning said first mat on a support surface having said bottom surface resting on the support surface and having said upper surface of said second mat being exposed; and positioning each of a plurality of legs on an infant high chair in a respective one of said slots in each of said first and second mats wherein said second mat is configured to capture food and liquids spilled when an infant is being fed in the infant high chair.
