Abstract

A stackable drinking cup has a frustoconical body with a sipping straw formed in the conical side. The inlet at the bottom of the cup has a greater cross-section than the outlet in the mouthpiece of the straw when the sipping straw extends inside the body of the cup.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A stackable drinking cup, the cup including:
a generally frustoconical body having a truncated conical side having a rim and a generally flat bottom, a sipping straw formed in the conical side, the sipping straw including a first tubular section extending from the bottom to the rim, the sipping straw having an inwardly extending lower opening at the bottom of the body, and a mouthpiece at the rim, the mouthpiece including an upper opening for sucking fluid from the cup, the mouthpiece extending outwardly from the side, wherein the first tubular section has an inner side and an outer side, such that the inner side of the cup is nestable within the outer side of another cup positioned within the cup.

2 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 , the tubular section decreasing in cross-sectional area from the bottom to the rim.

3 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 , wherein the outer side of the tubular section of the sipping straw extends inwardly from the side of the body of the cup.

4 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 , the mouthpiece of the cup being nestable within the outer side of another cup positioned within the cup.

5 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 wherein the inner side and the outer side of the tubular section of the sipping straw are generally concave.

6 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 wherein the outer side of the tubular section forms a truncated conical section wider at the bottom than proximate the rim.

7 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 wherein a horizontal cross-section of the outer side of the tubular section on a first plane forms an arc, and the horizontal cross-section of the inner side of the tubular section on the first plane forms an arc, the arc of the inner side having a greater length than the length of the arc of the outer side.

8 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 further including a second tubular section formed in the side of the cup opposite the first tubular section, such that the drinking straw of a first drinking cup can nest within the second tubular section of a second drinking cup.

9 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 4 wherein the horizontal cross-section of the first tubular section has a generally parallelepiped shape.

10 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 4 wherein the horizontal cross-section of the first tubular section has a generally triangular shape.

11 . A stackable drinking cup according to claim 1 , wherein the lower opening of the tubular section of the sipping straw has a larger cross-sectional area than the cross-sectional area of the upper opening of the tubular section of the sipping straw.
