Abstract

An electronic apparatus performs control to divide a face region based on the size of a face detected by the detection unit into three regions, namely an upper left region, an upper right region, and a lower region, viewed in a direction opposing the face, and select a left side eye, viewed opposing the face, when a position inside the upper left region is designated by the designation unit, a right side eye, viewed opposing the face, when a position inside the upper right region is designated by the designation unit, and the face when a position inside the lower region is designated by the designation unit.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An electronic apparatus comprising at least one processor or circuit to perform operations of:
a setting unit configured to set whether to enable a function to perform AF for a specific organ included in a face in an image; a detection unit configured to detect the face and the specific organ in the image; an AF control unit configure to perform AF on at least one of objects including the face and the specific organ in the image; and a display control unit configured to display, in a case where the function is enabled, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to an object on which the AF was performed, in a size corresponding to the object, and display, in a case where the function is disabled and the face of the image is detected, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to the face of the image and a size corresponding to the face.

2 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein
the AF control unit (i) performs the AF on the specific organ in a case where the function is enabled and the specific organ is detected, and (ii) performs the AF on the face in a case where the function is enabled and the specific organ is not detected and the face is detected.

3 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein
the AF control unit performs the AF on the specific organ in a case where the specific organ is detected even if the function is disabled, and the display control unit displays the item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to the face in the image and in a size corresponding to the face.

4 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor or circuit to perform further operations of:
a designating unit configured to designate any of the face and the specific organ in the image as a tracking target; and a tracking unit configured to track the tracking target, wherein the AF control unit performs, in a case where the function is available and the face is being tracked, the AF on a pupil when the detection unit detects the pupil.

5 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein
the AF control unit performs the AF on the pupil if the detection unit detects the pupil when the function is disabled and the face is being tracked.

6 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein
the AF control unit performs the AF in response to receiving a shooting preparation instruction.

7 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the specific organ is a pupil.

8 . The electronic apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor or circuit to perform further operations of:
a designating unit configured to designate either a left pupil of the face or a right pupil of the face as a target for performing the AF, wherein the AF control unit performs the AF on a pupil designated by the designating unit when the function is enabled.

9 . A method of controlling an electronic apparatus, the method comprising:
setting whether to enable a function to perform AF for a specific organ included in a face in an image; detecting the face and the specific organ in the image; performing AF on at least one of objects including the face and the specific organ in the image; displaying, in a case where the function is enabled, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to an object on which the AF was performed, in a size corresponding to the object; and displaying, in a case where the function is disabled and the face of the image is detected, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to the face of the image and a size corresponding to the face.

10 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein
 (i) the AF is performed on the specific organ in a case where the function is enabled and the specific organ is detected, and (ii) the AF is performed on the face in a case where the function is enabled and the specific organ is not detected and the face is detected.

11 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein
the AF is performed on the specific organ in a case where the specific organ is detected even if the function is disabled, and the item indicating a result of the AF is displayed at a position corresponding to the face in the image and in a size corresponding to the face.

12 . The method according to claim 9 , further comprising:
designating any of the face and the specific organ in the image as a tracking target, and tracking the tracking target, wherein in a case where the function is available and the face is being tracked, the AF is performed on a pupil when the detection unit detects the pupil.

13 . The method according to claim 12 , wherein
the AF is performed on the pupil if the pupil is detected when the function is disabled and the face is being tracked.

14 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein
the AF is performed in response to receiving a shooting preparation instruction.

15 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the specific organ is a pupil.

16 . The method according to claim 9 , further comprising:
designating either a left pupil of the face or a right pupil of the face as a target for performing the AF, wherein the AF is performed on a pupil designated in the designating when the function is enabled.

17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method of controlling an electronic apparatus, the method comprising:
setting whether to enable a function to perform AF for a specific organ included in a face in an image; detecting the face and the specific organ in the image; performing AF on at least one of objects including the face and the specific organ in the image; displaying, in a case where the function is enabled, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to an object on which the AF was performed, in a size corresponding to the object; and displaying, in a case where the function is disabled and the face of the image is detected, an item indicating a result of the AF at a position corresponding to the face of the image and a size corresponding to the face.
