Abstract

A firearm assembly includes an insert including a front strap, a leading member, a dowel member located at a lower end of the leading member, and a floorplate flexibly coupled to a lower end of the front strap, wherein the front strap and leading member extend between an upper end of the insert and a lower end of the insert; a follower configured to move vertically in relation to the insert; a rear strap removably attachable to the floorplate; and a spring disposed above the floorplate, wherein the front strap and rear strap are internally disposed in the spring and the follower is removably attached to an upper end of the spring.

         21 . A magazine assembly for a firearm comprising:
 a main body compatible and designed to function with an AR-15 5.56×45 mm magazine well;   a floorplate disposed at a lower end of the main body;   a follower disposed within the main body, wherein the follower moves relative to the main body and the floorplate; and   a spring extending between the floorplate and the follower,   wherein the follower is designed for a caliber that is not (i) 5.56×45 mm, (ii) .223 Remington, or (iii) 7.62×35 mm.   
     
     
         22 . The magazine assembly of  claim 21 , wherein the follower is designed for at least one caliber selected from the group of 9×19 mm, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, .380 ACP, .38 ACP, .38 Super, and .22 Long Rifle. 
     
     
         23 . The magazine assembly of  claim 21 , further comprising an insert with an uppermost portion that acts as a feed ramp. 
     
     
         24 . The magazine assembly of  claim 23 , wherein the insert comprises at least one attachment to the floorplate. 
     
     
         25 . The magazine assembly of  claim 23 , wherein the uppermost portion comprises a contoured portion that guides cartridges when the cartridges exit the magazine assembly. 
     
     
         26 . The magazine assembly of  claim 23 , wherein the insert is a separate component from the main body. 
     
     
         27 . The magazine assembly of  claim 23 , wherein the insert is an integral component of the main body. 
     
     
         28 . The magazine assembly of  claim 21 , wherein a fore/aft length of the follower is less than a fore/aft internal length of the main body. 
     
     
         29 . The magazine assembly of  claim 21 , further comprising an ejector. 
     
     
         30 . The magazine assembly of  claim 21 , wherein the follower comprises a spine disposed at a trailing edge of the follower. 
     
     
         31 . The magazine assembly of  claim 30 , wherein the spine comprises at least one notch. 
     
     
         32 . A magazine assembly for a firearm comprising:
 a main body comprising an upper opening, a lower end, and at least one feed lip, wherein the main body is compatible with an AR-15 5.56×45 mm magazine well; and   a follower disposed within the main body, wherein the follower moves between the lower end and the upper opening relative to the main body,   wherein the follower is designed for a caliber that is not (i) 5.56×45 mm, (ii) .223 Remington, or (iii) 7.62×35 mm.   
     
     
         33 . The magazine assembly of  claim 32 , further comprising a floorplate disposed at the lower end of the main body. 
     
     
         34 . The magazine assembly of  claim 32 , wherein a fore/aft length of the follower is less than a fore/aft internal length of the main body. 
     
     
         35 . The magazine assembly of  claim 32 , wherein the follower comprises a spine disposed at a trailing edge of the follower. 
     
     
         36 . The magazine assembly of  claim 32 , further comprising an insert with an uppermost portion that acts as a feed ramp. 
     
     
         37 . The magazine assembly of  claim 36 , wherein the insert comprises at least one attachment to a floorplate.
