System and associated methods for multistory building construction
Abstract
A multistory building construction system comprising at least one base plate including a centrally disposed sleeve extending vertically from a top surface thereof and configured to engage an interior portion of a bottom end of at least one first-floor column including a cap plate disposed on a top end thereof with a centrally disposed sleeve extending vertically therefrom configured to engage an exterior portion of a bottom end of at least one upper-floor column and configured to support a decking for a concrete floor, the first-floor column and upper-floor column further including at least one sheer tab for attachment of beams for support of the decking.

a first sleeve centrally disposed on a top surface of the first cap plate and extending outwardly from the top surface of the cap plate; and
a bottom end of the first floor column configured to matingly engage with the base sleeve.
2 . The multistory building construction system of claim 1 , wherein the first floor column has a cross-sectional shape substantially similar to a cross-sectional shape of the base sleeve; and
the first floor column has an interior dimension larger than an exterior dimension of the base sleeve.
3 . The multistory building construction system of claim 2 , further comprising:
a second floor column including:
a second cap plate disposed on a top end of the second floor column;
a second sleeve centrally disposed on a top surface of the second cap plate extending outwardly from the top surface of the second cap plate; and
a bottom end of the second floor column configured to matingly engage with the first sleeve.
4 . The multistory building construction system of claim 3 , wherein the cross-sectional shape of the first sleeve is substantially similar to the cross-section shape of the second floor column; and
the first sleeve having an interior dimension larger than an exterior dimension of the second floor column.
5 . The multistory building construction system of claim 3 , wherein the first floor column and the second floor column have substantially similar exterior dimensions.
6 . The multistory building construction system of claim 3 , wherein the second floor column has an exterior dimension that is smaller than an exterior dimension of the first floor column.
7 . The multistory building construction system of claim 3 , wherein the first sleeve define a channel that is configured to be removably filled with foam before the second floor column is matingly engaged with the first sleeve.
8 . The multistory building construction system of claim 1 , wherein the first cap plate has a lateral dimension greater than a lateral dimension of the first floor column.
9 . The multistory building construction system of claim 1 , wherein the first cap plate is configured to extend beyond the lateral dimension of the first floor column on two opposing sides of the first floor column.
10 . The multistory building construction system of claim 9 , wherein portions of the cap plate that extend beyond the lateral dimension of the first floor column are configured to support a decking for a floor.
11 . The multistory building construction system of claim 10 , wherein the portions of the cap plate extend beyond the lateral dimension of the first floor column by at least six inches.
12 . The multistory building construction system of claim 10 , wherein the cap plate extends beyond a horizontal dimension of opposite sides of the first floor column by at least three inches.
13 . The multistory building construction system of claim 1 , further comprising:
at least one sheer tab disposed orthogonal to a lateral dimension of the first floor column and oriented vertically; and at least one beam configured to be affixed to the at least one sheer tab to support a decking for a floor.
14 . The multistory building construction system of claim 1 , wherein a height of the first sleeve is configured to provide an indication for a height of concrete to be poured for a deck.
15 . A multistory building construction system, comprising:
a base plate; a base sleeve centrally disposed on a top surface of the base plate and extending outwardly from the top surface of the base plate; a first floor column including:
a first cap plate disposed on a top end of the first floor column, the first cap plate having a lateral dimension greater than a lateral dimension of the first floor column, he first cap plate configured to support a decking for a floor;
a first sleeve centrally disposed on a top surface of the first cap plate and extending outwardly from the top surface of the cap plate;
a bottom end of the first floor column configured to matingly engage with the base sleeve; and
the first floor column having a cross-sectional shape substantially similar to a cross-sectional shape of the base sleeve and an interior dimension larger than an exterior dimension of the base sleeve;
a second floor column including:
a second cap plate disposed on a top end of the second floor column;
a second sleeve centrally disposed on a top surface of the second cap plate and extending outwardly from the top surface of the second cap plate; and
a bottom end of the second floor column configured to matingly engage with the first sleeve;
at least one sheer tab disposed orthogonal to a lateral dimension of the first floor column and oriented vertically; at least one beam configured to be affixed to the at least one sheer tab to support the decking for the floor; the cross-sectional shape of the first sleeve being substantially similar to the cross-section shape of the second floor column; the first sleeve having an interior dimension larger than an exterior dimension of the second floor column; and the second floor column has an exterior dimension that is smaller than an exterior dimension of the first floor column.
16 . The multistory building construction system of claim 15 , wherein the first floor column and the second floor column have substantially similar exterior dimensions.
17 . The multistory building construction system of claim 15 , wherein the first cap plate is configured to extend beyond the lateral dimension of the first floor column on two opposing sides of the first floor column.
18 . The multistory building construction system of claim 17 , wherein portions of the cap plate extend beyond the lateral dimension of the first floor column by at least six inches, the portions being configured to support the decking for the floor; and
