Abstract

Bodily fluid sample collection systems, devices, and method are provided. The device may comprise a first portion comprising at least a sample collection channel configured to draw the fluid sample into the sample collection channel via a first type of motive force. The sample collection device may include a second portion comprising a sample container for receiving the bodily fluid sample collected in the sample collection channel, the sample container operably engagable to be in fluid communication with the collection channel, whereupon when fluid communication is established, the container provides a second motive force different from the first motive force to move a majority of the bodily fluid sample from the channel into the container.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 56 . (canceled)

57 . A device for collecting a bodily fluid sample from a subject, the device comprising:
a first portion comprising a plurality of tissue penetrating members and a vacuum generating device for drawing sample from a site targeted by the tissue penetrating members; and a second portion coupled to the first portion, said second portion comprising a sample container coupled orthogonally to the first portion and positioned for receiving the bodily fluid sample collected by the first portion, where said sample container extend beyond an external perimeter of the first portion and is configured to be detachable from the first portion.

58 . The device of claim 57 wherein an interior of the first portion includes at least one collection channels coated with at least one anticoagulant.

59 . The device of claim 58 wherein the first portion comprises a plurality of collection channels and an interior of a first of the collection channels is coated with a first anticoagulant different from a second anticoagulant coating an interior of a second of the collection channels.

60 . The device of claim 59 , wherein the first anticoagulant is ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and the second anticoagulant is different from EDTA.

61 . The device of claim 60 , wherein the first anticoagulant is citrate and the second anticoagulant is different from citrate.

62 . The device of claim 60 , wherein the first anticoagulant is heparin and the second anticoagulant is different from heparin.

63 . The device of claim 57 wherein the vacuum generating device comprises a diaphragm movable from a first position to a second position to generate a vacuum.

64 . The device of claim 57 wherein the first portion has a cylindrical exterior shape.

65 . The device of claim 57 wherein the first portion has a drum-like exterior shape.

66 . The device of claim 57 wherein the first portion has a button for actuating the tissue penetrating members towards the site being targeted.

67 . The device of claim 57 wherein the tissue penetrating members comprise microneedles.
