Footwear with adjustable height platform

Abstract

A footwear construction capable of incorporating one to three platform layers, or no platform layers at all. The invention comprises a kit including a sneaker member, optionally includable in the final construction first second and third platform members, guide members, optionally in sets of three, suitable for inclusion in a constructed footwear item with one, two or three platform members, and a tread its sole member, optionally replaceable by other types of soles.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A platform footwear kit, comprising:
 (a) a footwear housing configured to house the foot of a wearer, comprising (i) a footwear housing upper portion, and (ii) a footwear housing sole portion, said footwear housing sole portion having a bottom side;   (b) one or more platform layers, said platform layers having a top side and a bottom side, and being adapted to be secured to one another and/or to said bottom side of said housing sole portion; and   (c) an outer sole adapted to be secured to the bottom side of one of said platform layers and/or the bottom side of said housing sole portion.   
     
     
         2 . Apparatus as in  claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of alignment members securable to said footwear housing sole portion, and wherein said platform portions define holes for receiving said alignment members. 
     
     
         3 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , further comprising alignment member supports, said alignment member supports incorporating support surfaces and wherein said alignment members are configured to mate with and engage said support surfaces. 
     
     
         4 . Apparatus as in  claim 3 , wherein said alignment member support surfaces comprise the threads of a tapped hole defined by said alignment member supports and wherein said alignment members comprise a threaded portion. 
     
     
         5 . Apparatus as in  claim 3 , wherein said alignment member support surfaces comprise a bayonet retention surface and wherein said alignment members comprise a pair of bayonet studs. 
     
     
         6 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein the top surface of said platform layers and said outer sole are covered with a layer of a first type of attachment structure, and wherein the bottom surface of said platform layers and said bottom side of said footwear housing sole portion are covered with a layer of a second type of attachment structure said first type of attachment structure mating with said second type of attachment structure. 
     
     
         7 . Apparatus as in  claim 6 , wherein said first type of attachment structure is a loop material, and wherein said second type of attachment structure is a hook material. 
     
     
         8 . Apparatus as in  claim 1 , wherein one of said platform layers is a three-dimensional sculpture. 
     
     
         9 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein there are three of said platform layers, and said platform layers are configured to form a smoothly flaring out member when engaged with one another. 
     
     
         10 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein said footwear housing is a sneaker footwear housing. 
     
     
         11 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein said footwear housing is a leather shoe footwear housing. 
     
     
         12 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein at least one of said platform layers is wedge shaped. 
     
     
         13 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , further comprising a cylindrical housing for aligning platform layers, outer sole and footwear housing during assembly of the inventive footwear. 
     
     
         14 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein said outer sole is treaded. 
     
     
         15 . Apparatus as in  claim 2 , wherein said footwear housing is a sandal footwear housing.
