Beard guard for use with face shields and facemasks

Abstract

The facemask includes a face portion configured to cover a nose and a mouth of a wearer. The facemask includes a facial hair portion configured to cover a chin of the wearer. The face portion and the facial hair portion are arranged and connected at a first seam such that particulates are prevented from passing from a first side of the face piece to a second side.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A face piece having a first side and a second side, the face piece being configured to block first particulates and second particulates, the face piece comprising:
 a face portion configured to cover a nose and a mouth of a wearer;   a facial hair portion configured to cover a chin of the wearer; and   a first seam connecting the face portion and the facial hair portion,   the face portion and the facial hair portion arranged and connected such that the first particulates and the second particulates are prevented from passing from the first side of the face piece to the second side at the first seam.   
     
     
         2 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the face portion comprises:
 one or more first breathable layers configured to prevent conveyance of first particulates of a first size from a first side to a second side of the face piece, and   one or more face straps configured to extend to and around at least one portion of the wearer's head and hold the face portion in a position covering the nose and mouth of the wearer.   
     
     
         3 . The face piece of  claim 2 , wherein the one or more face straps are removable. 
     
     
         4 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the facial hair portion comprises:
 one or more second breathable layers configured to prevent conveyance of second particulates of a second size from the first side to the second side of the facial piece, the second size being larger than the first size, and   one or more straps configured to hold the facial hair portion in a second position such that a majority of facial hair of the wearer is arranged within a cavity formed on the first side of the face piece by the one or more breathable layers of the facial hair portion.   
     
     
         5 . The face piece of  claim 4 , wherein the one or more face straps are removable: 
     
     
         6 . The face piece of  claim 1 , further comprising a shield portion configured to cover eyes of the wearer, the shield portion comprising:
 one or more transparent layers configured to prevent conveyance of third particulates of a third size from the first side to the second side of the facial piece without obstructing a view through the shield portion, and   one or more shield straps configured to hold the shield portion in a third position covering the eyes of the wearer,   wherein the shield portion and the face portion are arranged and connected such that the first, second, and third particulates are prevented from passing from the first side of the face piece to the second side at a second seam where the face portion and the shield portion are connected.   
     
     
         7 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more straps comprise first and second front straps and first and second back straps, and wherein the first and second front straps are arranged in front of ears of the wearer and nearer to the first seam as compared to the first and second back straps, which are arranged behind the ears of the wearer. 
     
     
         8 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more straps are configured to be one or more of (1) extended to and around at least one portion of the wearer's head, (2) tied together at a one or more locations of a head of the wearer, (3) removably fastened to a hair net worn by the wearer, and (4) removably coupled to an item worn by the wearer. 
     
     
         9 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein, when the pace piece is worn by a user, the first side is configured to be positioned facing away from a user's face and the second side is configured to be positioned facing towards the user's face. 
     
     
         10 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein, when the pace piece is worn by a user, the second side is configured to be positioned facing away from a user's face and the first side is configured to be positioned facing towards the user's face. 
     
     
         11 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the face portion and the facial hair portion are clasped, buttoned, magnetically attached, zippered, sewn, taped, melted, welded, hook and loop fastened, glued or adhered together to create the seam. 
     
     
         12 . The face piece of  claim 1 , wherein the seam extends continuously between the face portion and the facial hair portion from a first edge on a first side of the user's face to a second edge on a second side of the user's face. 
     
     
         13 . A face piece, comprising:
 a face portion configured to cover a nose and a mouth of a wearer, the face portion comprising:
 one or more first breathable layers, and 
 one or more face straps attached to the one or more first breathable layers; 
   a facial hair portion configured to cover a chin of the wearer, the facial hair portion comprising:
 one or more second breathable layers, and 
 one or more straps attached to the one or more second breathable layers, 
   wherein the face portion and the facial hair portion are arranged and connected at a first seam.   
     
     
         14 . A method of wearing a face piece, the method comprising:
 positioning a face portion of the face piece to cover a nose and a mouth of a wearer, the face portion comprising:
 one or more first breathable layers, and 
 one or more face straps attached to the one or more first breathable layers; and 
   positioning a facial hair portion to cover a chin and beard of the wearer, the facial hair portion comprising:
 one or more second breathable layers, and 
 one or more straps attached to the one or more second breathable layers, 
   wherein the face portion and the facial hair portion are arranged and connected at a first seam.
