Claims

Abstract

A dual guidewire lumen catheter includes a first elongated member and a second elongated member. The first elongated member includes a first integral portion, a first free portion, and a first lumen extending there through. The first lumen is configured to receive a first guidewire. The first free portion has a first distal end and a first aperture configured to receive the first guidewire. The second elongated member includes a second distal end and a second lumen there through. The second lumen is configured to receive a second guidewire and the second distal end has a second aperture configured to receive the second guidewire. The second elongated member is integral with the first integral portion of the first elongated member and the first free portion is moveable with respect to a central axis of the catheter.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A method, comprising:
 providing a catheter including a first elongated member and a second elongated member at a vessel bifurcation, the first elongated member having a first free portion, a first integral portion, and a first lumen extending there through, the first free portion having a first aperture, the second elongated member having a second integral portion, a second free portion, and a second lumen extending there through, the second integral portion being integral with the first integral portion of the first elongated member, the second free portion being spaced from the first free portion and having a second aperture;   providing a balloon and coupling the balloon to the catheter;   advancing a first guidewire through the first lumen of the first elongated member of the catheter and the first aperture of the first free portion into a parent vessel of the vessel bifurcation and into a side branch of the vessel bifurcation;   advancing a second guidewire through the second lumen of the second elongated member of the catheter and the second aperture of the second free portion into the parent vessel of the vessel bifurcation;   advancing the catheter along the first guidewire and the second guidewire into the parent vessel;   advancing the second guidewire into a main branch of the bifurcation; and   advancing the catheter along the first guidewire and the second guidewire to the bifurcation of the parent vessel.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the balloon includes a stent coupled thereto. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising, subsequent to advancing the catheter to the bifurcation, dilating the balloon such that the stent is deployed in the parent vessel. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising, subsequent to deploying the stent in the parent vessel, retreating the catheter along the first guidewire and the second guidewire, advancing a side branch catheter having a balloon and a lumen configured to receive the first guidewire along the first guidewire to the side branch of the bifurcation, dilating the balloon of the side branch catheter such that the side branch is dilated, advancing a main branch catheter having a balloon and a lumen configured to receive the second guidewire along the second guidewire to the main branch of the vessel, and dilating the balloon of the main branch catheter such that main branch is dilated. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising, subsequent to dilating the side branch and the main branch, retreating the side branch catheter along the first guidewire and retreating the main branch catheter along the second guidewire, advancing a second side branch catheter having a balloon, a stent, and a lumen configured to receive the first guidewire along the first guidewire to the side branch, advancing a second main branch catheter having a balloon, a stent, and a lumen configured to receive the second guidewire along the second guidewire to the main branch, dilating the balloon of the second side branch catheter and the balloon of the second main branch catheter such that the stent of the second side branch catheter is deployed in the side branch and the stent of the second main branch catheter is deployed in the main branch, thereby raising the bifurcation. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising, subsequent to advancing the catheter to the bifurcation, dilating the balloon such that the parent vessel is dilated, and retreating the catheter along the first guidewire and the second guidewire. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising, subsequent to retreating the catheter, providing a second catheter including a third elongated member and a fourth elongated member, the third elongated member having a third free portion, a third integral portion, and a third lumen extending there through, the fourth elongated member having a fourth integral portion, a fourth free portion, and a fourth lumen extending there through, the fourth integral portion being integral with the third integral portion of the third elongated member, the fourth free portion being spaced from the third free portion, providing a balloon coupled to the second catheter, providing a stent coupled to the balloon, and dilating the balloon such that the stent is deployed in the parent vessel. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first aperture and first distal end of the first free portion of the first elongated member define a first beveled surface configured to aid in placement of the first guidewire in the side branch of the bifurcation and the second aperture and second distal end of the second free portion of the second elongated member define a second beveled surface configured to aid in placement of the second guidewire in the main branch of the bifurcation.
