Methods, systems and apparatus to propagate node configuration changes to services in a distributed environment
Abstract
Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to propagate node changes in a cluster of nodes and reconfigure services based on the node changes in a cloud computing environment are disclosed. An example first node of an example cluster of nodes includes an event reporter to, in response to experiencing a node change event, transmit a node change event message to a second node, the node change event message to trigger the second node to perform at least one action to reconfigure a service supported by the second node, the at least one action to reconcile the service with the node change event; and an event listener to receive an event reporting message from the second node, the event reporting message indicative of whether the second node successfully performed the at least one action.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A node change event server of a first node of a cluster of nodes, the node change event server comprising:
an event reporter to, in response to a node change event for the first node, transmit a node change event message to a second node, the node change event message to trigger the second node to perform at least one action to reconfigure a service supported by the second node, the at least one action to reconcile the service with the node change event; and an event listener to receive an event reporting message from the second node, the event reporting message indicative of whether the second node successfully performed the at least one action.
2 . The node change event server of claim 1 , wherein the event reporter is to transmit the node change event message to the second node to cause the second node to execute a script to perform the at least one action to reconfigure the service supported by the second node.
3 . The node change event server of claim 1 , wherein the node change event message includes a node change event type that includes at least one of adding the first node to the cluster of nodes, removing the first node from the cluster of nodes, or promoting the first node to lead node.
4 . The node change event server of claim 3 , wherein the node change event message is a first node change event message, the node change event type is a first node change event type, the at least one action is at least one first action and the event reporter is to, in response to a second node change event for the first node, transmit a second node change event message to the second node, the second node change event message including a second node change event type, the second node change event message to trigger the second node to perform at least one second action to reconfigure the service, the at least one second action to reconcile the service with the second node change event.
5 . The node change event server of claim 1 , wherein the node change event message is to trigger the second node to at least one of shut down the service, reconfigure the service, or restart the service.
6 . The node change event server of claim 1 , wherein the event reporting message indicates at least one of an identify of the second node, the service affected by the node change event, or which of a set of scripts were executed in response to the node change event message.
7 . The node change event server of claim 1 , wherein the event reporter is to transmit the node change event message to the second node in response to a signal received from a cluster management tool.
8 . A tangible computer readable storage medium comprising computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause a first virtual appliance to at least:
in response to a node change event for the first virtual appliance, transmit a node change event message to a second virtual appliance, the node change event message to trigger the second virtual appliance to perform at least one action to reconfigure a service supported by the second virtual appliance, the at least one action to reconcile the service with the node change event; and receive an event reporting message from the second virtual appliance, the event reporting message indicative of whether the second virtual appliance successfully performed the at least one action.

The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the first virtual appliance to transmit the node change event message to the second virtual appliance to cause the second virtual appliance to execute a script to perform the at least one action to reconfigure the service supported by the second virtual appliance.
10 . The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the node change event message includes a node change event type that includes at least one of a node added event type, a node removed event type, or a node promoted event type.
11 . The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the node change event message is a first node change event message, the node change event type is a first node change event type, the at least one action is at least one first action and the instructions, when executed, cause the first virtual appliance to, in response to a second node change event for the first virtual appliance, transmit a second node change event message to the second virtual appliance, the second node change event message including a second node change event type, the second node change event message to trigger the second virtual appliance to perform at least one second action to reconfigure the service, the at least one second action to reconcile the service with the second node change event.
12 . The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the node change event message is to trigger the second virtual appliance to at least one of shut down the service, reconfigure the service, or restart the service.

The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the event reporting message indicates at least one of an identify of the second virtual appliance, the service affected by the node change event, or which of a set of scripts were executed in response to the node change event message.
14 . The tangible computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the first virtual appliance to, transmit the node change event message to the second virtual appliance in response to a signal received from a cluster management tool.
15 . A method for propagating node change events to a plurality of nodes included in a cluster, the method comprising:
in response to a node change event for a first node, transmitting, by executing an instruction with a processor associated with the first node of the plurality of nodes, a node change event message to a second node, the node change event message to trigger the second node to perform at least one action to reconfigure a service supported by the second node, the at least one action to reconcile the service with the node change event; and receiving, by executing an instruction with the processor associated with the first node of the plurality of nodes, an event reporting message from the second node, the event reporting message indicative of whether the second node successfully performed the at least one action.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further including, transmitting, by executing an instruction with the processor associated with the first node of the plurality of nodes, the node change event message to the second node to cause the second node to execute a script to perform the at least one action to reconfigure the service supported by the second node.
17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the node change event message includes a node change event type that includes at least one of adding the first node to the cluster of nodes, removing the first node from the cluster of nodes, or promoting the first node to lead node.

The method of claim 17 , wherein the node change event message is a first node change event message, the node change event type is a first node change event type, the at least one action is at least one first action and the method further including, in response to a second node change event for the first node, transmitting a second node change event message to the second node, the second node change event message including a second node change event type, the second node change event message to trigger the second node to perform at least one second action to reconfigure the service, the at least one second action to reconcile the service with the second node change event.
19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the node change event message is to trigger the second node to at least one of shut down the service, reconfigure the service, or restart the service.
