Sleeved garment accessory

Abstract

A garment accessory of the invention designed to be seamlessly worn with sleeveless or strapless tops, dresses or other garments for the purpose of varying the appearance of the original garment, while at the same time concealing a woman's arms without adding undue bulkiness on the torso of the wearer. The garment accessory is made from a multi-way stretch material such that the garment is designed to be form fitting and fit snugly around the arms and torso of the wearer to provide sufficient support to be worn with or without any underlying garment (e.g., brassiere).

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sleeved garment accessory to be worn by a wearer under a sleeveless garment to transform the sleeveless garment into a garment having sleeves where the sleeved garment is designed to create the appearance of being part of the sleeveless garment, thereby expanding the user's wardrobe to change the look of an outfit, the sleeved garment accessory comprising:
 a torso member having a bottom and a first face section and a second face section positioned on opposite sides of the garment such that one is worn on the back of a wearer while the other is on the front of the wearer and two opposing sleeve members extending from the torso member of a length that extends at least three quarters of the way down the arms of the wearer when worn, where the two opposing sleeve members are made from a thin, lightweight, sheer, four-way stretch material that is form fitting and that fits snugly around the arms, shoulders and underarms of the wearer, and where the torso member is also designed to fit snuggly around the chest of the wearer to provide sufficient support to be worn with or without any underlying garment and where the two opposing sleeve members are affixed to the torso member such that no seams affixing the sleeve members to the torso member can be seen on the shoulder of the wearer when the sleeved garment accessory is worn under the sleeveless garment; and   where the first face section provides different coverage than the second face section and where at least the first face section is designed to provide sufficient coverage to cover the nipples on the chest of the wearer when the first face section is worn over the breast of the wearer and is designed such that at least one of the first face section or second face section is substantially concealed by the sleeveless garment when the sleeveless garment is worn over the chest of the wearer; and   where the torso member further includes an elastic member positioned below the first and second face sections and extending around the torso member at the bottom of the torso member of the sleeved garment.   
     
     
         2 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 1  where a neckline of the first face section is different from a neckline of the second face section. 
     
     
         3 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 1  where the torso member is also made from a thin, lightweight, four-way stretch material comprised of a blend of nylon and spandex. 
     
     
         4 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 1  where the sleeve members include at least one opening to expose at least a portion of the user's shoulder or arm when worn by the wearer. 
     
     
         5 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 2  where at least one of the first and second face sections is comprised of two pieces of material having the elastic member positioned on the lower edge of each of the two pieces of material and where the two pieces of material are separated from one another at the midsection of the at least one of the first and second face sections and where the at least one of the first and second face sections includes a closure device located on the two pieces of material at the midsection of the at least one of the first and second face sections for connecting the two pieces of material together and forming a central seam on the at least one of the first and second face sections. 
     
     
         6 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 2  where at least one of the first and second face sections is comprised of two pieces of material having the elastic member positioned on the lower edge of each of the two pieces of material and where the two pieces of material are separated from one another at the midsection of the at least one of the first and second face sections and where the at least one of the first and second face sections includes a closure device located on the two pieces of material at the midsection of the at least one of the first and second face sections for connecting the two pieces of material together between the elastic members positioned on the lower edge of each of the two pieces of material. 
     
     
         7 . The sleeved garment accessory in  claim 2  where the elastic member is a one piece elastic band encircling the bottom of the garment. 
     
     
         8 . A sleeved garment accessory to be worn by a wearer under a sleeveless garment to transform the sleeveless garment into a garment having sleeves where the sleeved garment is designed to create the appearance of being part of the sleeveless garment, thereby expanding the user's wardrobe to change the look of an outfit, the sleeved garment accessory comprising:
 a torso member having a bottom and a first face section and a second face section each have a neckline positioned on opposite sides of the garment such that one is worn on the back of a wearer while the other is on the front of the wearer and two opposing sleeve members extending from the torso member of a length that extends at least three quarters of the way down the arms of the wearer when worn, where the garment is at least partially made from a blend of nylon and spandex, and where the sleeve members are constructed from a thin, lightweight, open-weave, four-way stretch material that is form fitting and that fits snugly around the arms, shoulder and underarms of the wearer, and where the torso member is also designed to fit snuggly around the chest of the wearer to provide sufficient support to be worn with or without any underlying garment and where the two opposing sleeve members are affixed to the torso member such that no seams affixing the sleeve members to the torso member can be seen on the shoulder of the wearer when the sleeved garment accessory is worn under the sleeveless garment; and where the first face section provides different coverage than the second face section and where the neckline of the second face section is higher cut than the neckline of the first face section and where at least the first face section is designed to provide sufficient coverage to cover the nipples on the chest of the wearer when the first face section is worn over the breast of the wearer; and   where the torso member further includes an elastic member positioned below the first and second face sections and extending around the torso member at the bottom of the torso member of the sleeved garment.   
     
     
         9 . The sleeved garment accessory of  claim 8  where the sleeve members have elastic bands at the end of the sleeve members. 
     
     
         10 . A sleeved garment accessory to be worn by a wearer under a sleeveless garment to transform the sleeveless garment into a garment having sleeves where the sleeved garment is designed to create the appearance of being part of the sleeveless garment, thereby expanding the user's wardrobe to change the look of an outfit, the sleeved garment accessory comprising:
 a torso member having a bottom and a first face section and a second face section each have a neckline positioned on opposite sides of the garment such that one is worn on the back of a wearer while the other is on the front of the wearer and each of the front face section and back face section being seamless and two opposing sleeve members extending from the torso member of a length that extends at least three quarters of the way down the arms of the wearer when worn, where the garment is at least partially made from a blend of nylon and spandex, and where the sleeve members are constructed of a thin, lightweight, sheer, open-weave, four-way stretch material that is form fitting and that fits snugly around the arms, shoulder and underarms of the wearer, and where the torso member is also designed to fit snuggly around the chest of the wearer to provide sufficient support to be worn with or without any underlying garment and where the two opposing sleeve members are affixed to the torso member such that no seams affixing the sleeve members to the torso member can be seen on the shoulder of the wearer when the sleeved garment accessory is worn under the sleeveless garment; and where the first face section provides different coverage than the second face section, where the neckline of the second face section is higher cut than the neckline of the first face section and where at least the first face section is designed to provide sufficient coverage to cover the nipples on the chest of the wearer when the first face section is worn over the breast of the wearer and where the first and second face sections end just below the breast of the wearer on the torso of the wearer; and   where the torso member further includes an elastic member positioned below the first and second face sections and extending around the torso member at the bottom of the torso member of the sleeved garment, where the sleeve members have elastic bands at the end of the sleeve members and where the neckline of the first and second face sections include elastic trim.
