Geolocation based content delivery network system, method and process
Abstract
A system and method for generating revenue for content distributors (e.g., studios) and location based viewing retailers (e.g., exhibitors) is provided. The system extends the viewing retailer footprints outside the various venues (e.g., into homes and mobile devices), using virtual seats that are associated to a particular location based on geography, and by making content available to consumers that might otherwise be either unavailable and/or inconvenient. The system comprises a control circuitry configured to: to receive, using a communications circuitry, a first location information from a first client device; to determine, using a location engine, a geographical location of the first client device using the first location information; and to send, using a content distribution engine, the content to a second client device based on the determined geographical location of the first location information, even if the first and second devices are contained in a single device.
Claims

receiving a first location information from a first client device;
determining a geographical location of the first client device using the first location information; and
sending the content to a second client device based on the determined geographical location of the first location information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second client devices are the same device.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second client devices are different devices.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
receiving a second location information that comprises an IP address from the second client device, wherein the first location information comprises geolocation data and an IP address of the first device; verifying a property type at the determined geographical location based on the geolocation data; determining whether a first portion the IP address of the first location information matches with a second portion the IP address of the second location information, wherein the content is sent to the second device when there is a match and upon verification that the property type is a residential type property.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the geolocation data comprises global positioning system data having longitude and latitude data.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a request for a content listing from the first device; locating a theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the first client device; retrieving a list of content being offered by the theatre proximate to the determined geographical location; and sending the list of content to the first device.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
receiving an order, from the first device, for a content to be displayed on the second device.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a request for a content listing from the first device; determining a geographical location of the second device associated with the first device, wherein the first and second devices are different; locating a theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second client device; determining whether theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second client device is a participating theatre circuit; retrieving a list of content being offered by the theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second device and only when the proximate theatre is a participating theatre;
sending the list of content to the first device.

The method of claim 8 , further comprising denying the request for a content listing if the theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second client device is a non-participant theatre, thereby creating a geo-fence by protecting the non-participating theatre exhibition rights.
10 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first client device is a mobile device and the second client device is one of a connected TV, a set-top-box, or a game console.
11 . A system for content delivery, the system comprises a control circuitry configured to:
to receive, using a content consumption engine and the communications circuitry, a first location information from a first client device; to determine, using a location engine and the first location information, a geographical location of the first client device; and to send, using a content distribution engine, the content to a second client device based on the determined geographical location of the first location information.
12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the first and second client devices are the same device.
13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the first and second client devices are different devices.
14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
to receive, using the content consumption engine, a second location information that comprises an IP address from the second client device, wherein the first location information comprises geolocation data and an IP address of the first device; to verify, using the location engine, a property type at the determined geographical location based on the geolocation data, and to determine whether a first portion the IP address of the first location information matches with a second portion of the IP address of the second location information; and to send, using the content distribution engine, the content to the second device when there is a match between first and second portions of the IP addresses of the first and second locations and upon verification that the property type is a residential type property, wherein the first and second portions comprises 3 digit-groups of each respective IP address.
15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the geolocation data comprises global positioning system data having longitude and latitude data.
16 . The system of claim 12 , wherein control circuitry is further configured to:
receive, using the content consumption engine, a request from the first device for a content listing; locate, using the location engine, a theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the first client device; to retrieve, using the content consumption engine, a list of content being offered by the theatre proximate to the determined geographical location; and to send, using the content distribution engine, the list of content to the first device.
17 . The system of claim 12 , wherein control circuitry is further configured to:
to receive, using the content consumption engine, a request for a content listing from the first device; using the location engine: to determine a geographical location of the second device associated with the first device, wherein the first and second devices are different; and to locate a participating theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second client device; and using the content consumption engine: to retrieve a list of content being offered by the participating theatre proximate to the determined geographical location of the second device; and to send the list of content to the first device.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to receive an order, using the content consumption engine, for a content from the first device to be displayed on the second device.
19 . A non-transitory processor-readable medium having one or more instructions operational on a computing device, which when executed by a processor causes the processor to:
receive a first location information from a first client device;
determine a geographical location of the first client device using the first location information; and
deliver a content to a second client device based on the determined geographical location of the first location information.
20 . The non-transitory processor-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the first and second client devices are the same device.
21 . The non-transitory processor-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the first and second client devices are different devices.
22 . The non-transitory processor-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein it further comprises one or more instructions operational on a computing device, which when executed by a processor causes the processor to
receive a second location information that comprises an IP address from the second client device, wherein the first location information comprises geolocation data and an IP address of the first device; verify a property type at the determined geographical location based on the geolocation data; determine whether the IP address of the first location information matches with the IP address of the second location information; and deliver the content to the second device when there is a match and upon verification that the property type is a residential type property.
