Golf club head
Abstract
A golf club head comprises a sole, a recessed sole port in the sole; and a rotatably adjustable sole piece adapted to be at least partially received within the sole port and comprising a central body having a plurality of contact surfaces adapted to contact the sole port and being offset from each other along a central axis extending through the central body of the sole piece. The sole piece can be positioned at least partially within the sole port at five or more rotational and axial positions with respect to the central axis, wherein at each rotational position, at least one of said contact surfaces of the central body contacts the sole port to set the axial position of the sole piece. The sole port and/or the sole piece can be generally pentagonal in shape.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 23 . (canceled)
24 . A golf club head comprising:
a body having a forward portion, a crown portion and a sole portion together defining an interior cavity, the body having a sliding weight track extending generally from a heel end of the body to a toe end of the body; at least one ledge extending within the sliding weight track from the heel end of the body to the toe end of the body; at least one weight member movably positioned within the sliding weight track and adapted to engage the at least one ledge, wherein a position of the at least one weight member within the sliding weight track is able to be adjusted; wherein the at least one weight member comprises an outer member, an inner member, and a fastening member that connects the outer member to the inner member, and further wherein the outer member is non-circular in shape.
25 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the fastening member is a threaded fastener.
26 . The golf club head of claim 25 , wherein the threaded fastener passes through a non-threaded aperture in the outer member.
27 . The golf club head of claim 25 , wherein the threaded fastener extends into a threaded aperture in the inner member.
28 . The golf club head of claim 25 , wherein the inner member is non-circular.
29 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the sliding weight track is located on the sole.
30 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the golf club head has a CG with a head origin x-axis coordinate (CGx), and the range of adjustment for the golf club head CGx is a Max ΔCGx of greater than 10 mm as the at least one weight member is movably positioned along the sliding weight track.
31 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the at least one ledge comprises first and second ledges, and further wherein the outer member comprises a central protrusion that extends into a space between the first and second ledges, the outer member further comprising first and second recessed surfaces on opposite sides of the central protrusion, the first recessed surface being configured to contact the first ledge and the second recessed surface being configured to contact the second ledge.
32 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the channel comprises an angled wall portion that extends rearwardly from the at least one ledge, wherein at least one of the outer member or the inner member extends beyond the at least one ledge and into a space adjacent the angled wall portion.
33 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein at least a portion of the forward portion comprises a composite material.
34 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the composite material comprises a composite face insert, and further wherein the forward portion further comprises a front opening configured to receive the composite face insert.
35 . The golf club head of claim 34 , wherein the forward portion further comprises an inner wall surrounding the front opening and extending around an annular lip, the inner wall and annular lip configured to contact outer and rear surfaces, respectively, of the composite face insert.
36 . The golf club head of claim 34 , wherein the composite face insert comprises a polymeric front cover.
37 . The golf club head of claim 24 , further comprising at least one internal rib extending across an inner surface of the sole and attached to the channel.
38 . The golf club head of claim 24 , further comprising at least two internal ribs extending across an inner surface of the sole and attached to the channel.
39 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein at least a portion of the outer member sits within a recessed portion of the channel.
40 . The golf club head of claim 24 , wherein the crown portion comprises a composite material.
41 . The golf club head of claim 40 , wherein at least 50 percent of the crown portion has an areal weight less than 0.36 g/cm 2 .
42 . The golf club head of claim 40 , wherein at least 50 percent of the sole portion has an areal weight less than 0.36 g/cm 2 .
43 . The golf club head of claim 35 , wherein the composite face insert has a variable face thickness having a minimum face thickness and a maximum face thickness, wherein the minimum face thickness is less than the maximum face thickness, and the maximum face thickness ranges between about 4.0 mm and about 5.0 mm.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
