Content Redirection via Remote Session
Abstract
Aspects described herein are directed to the redirection of web content from a virtual desktop session on a remote computing device to a client computing device for rendering. A first application executing on a client device may determine to establish a remote session for a user of the client device. The first application may send a request to a server. The request may be configured to cause the server to monitor for updates associated with the remote session. After the remote session is established, the first application may receive redirected content via the remote session. The redirected content is associated with identification of whether to redirect information via the remote session. The first application may send the redirected content to a second application executing on the client device to render the redirected content.

1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a first application executing on a client device, to establish a remote session for a user of the client device; sending, by the first application, a request to a server, the request being configured to cause the server to monitor for updates associated with the remote session; after the remote session is established, receiving, by the first application, redirected content via the remote session, wherein the redirected content is associated with identification of whether to redirect information via the remote session; and sending, by the first application, the redirected content to a second application executing on the client device to render the redirected content.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining to establish the remote session comprises obtaining at least one of a username or a password of the user.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending, to the server, at least one of a username or a password of the user.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first application comprises a virtual machine receiver.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the redirected content comprises page content that is retrieved by the server and redirected to the client device.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second application comprises a remoted web browser instance executing on the client device.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the redirected content comprises locational and clipping information for a window frame of the second application.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending, by the first application, a uniform resource locator (URL) to the server, wherein the redirected content is associated with the URL.
9 . An apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
determine, by a first application executing on the apparatus, to establish a remote session for a user of the apparatus;
send a request to a server, the request being configured to cause the server to monitor for updates associated with the remote session;
after the remote session is established, receive redirected content via the remote session, wherein the redirected content is associated with identification of whether to redirect information via the remote session; and
send, by the first application, the redirected content to a second application executing on the apparatus to render the redirected content.
10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to determine to establish the remote session by obtaining at least one of a username or a password of the user.
11 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the apparatus to send, to the server, at least one of a username or a password of the user.
12 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the first application comprises a virtual machine receiver.
13 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the redirected content comprises page content that is retrieved by the server and redirected to the apparatus.
14 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the second application comprises a remoted web browser instance executing on the apparatus.
15 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the redirected content comprises locational and clipping information for a window frame of the second application.
16 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the apparatus to send a uniform resource locator (URL) to the server, wherein the redirected content is associated with the URL.
17 . A method comprising:
determining, by a web browser on a client, to establish a remote session for a user of the client; sending, by the web browser, a request to a server, the request being configured to cause the server to monitor for updates associated with the remote session; after the remote session is established, receiving, by the web browser, redirected content for the remote session, wherein the redirected content is associated with identification of whether to redirect information via the remote session; and causing, by the web browser, the redirected content to be rendered on the client to enable redirection of the redirected content via the remote session.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the determining to establish the remote session comprises obtaining at least one of a username or a password of the user.
19 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising sending, to the server, at least one of a username or a password of the user.
