Abstract

An extended expander cycle system comprising a rocket engine having a plurality of channels; a plurality of fuel supplied one-wheel-turbopumps; a plurality of oxidizer supplied one-wheel-turbopumps; wherein utilization of the plurality of channels for both fuel and oxidizer and utilization of plurality of fuel and oxidizer supplied one-wheel-turbopumps provides adequate energy for fuel and oxidizer pressurization.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A one-wheel-turbopump comprising:
a housing; a wheel rotatably mounted within said housing; a pump structurally coupled to said wheel; a turbine structurally coupled to said wheel; a seal separating said turbine from said pump; a first conduit coupled to said housing serving as a pump inlet and a turbine outlet; and, a second conduit coupled to said housing serving as a pump outlet and a turbine inlet.

2 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 further comprising securing means coupled to said housing adapted to secure a plurality of one-wheel-turbopumps together.

3 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 , wherein said pump is a radial pump, a centrifugal pump or an axial pump.

4 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 , wherein said pump is both a centrifugal pump and an axial pump.

5 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 , wherein said turbine is a radial turbine, an impulse turbine or a reaction turbine.

6 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 , wherein said turbine is both an impulse turbine and a reaction turbine.

         7 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 wherein the one-wheel-turbopump is stackable.

         8 . The one-wheel-turbopump of claim 1 wherein said one-wheel-turbopump is 3-D printed.
