System and Method for Incorporating and Releasing a Substance into a Smokable Material
Abstract
A system and method for incorporating and releasing a substance into a smokable material is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, a smokable element (e.g., a cigarette) includes a first wrapper and a filler (e.g., tobacco, cannabis, etc.) encased by the first wrapper. A capsule is then embedded within the filler and a second wrapper is placed over the first wrapper adjacent the capsule. The capsule may comprise a liquid (e.g., cannabinoids, terpenes, etc.) encased within a shell. By squeezing the second wrapper, the shell can be crushed (or broken open), releasing the liquid into the filler, thereby creating a “splash zone.” Vapors and/or smoke from the splash zone can then be inhaled by a user, enhancing the user's smoking experience.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:

a first cylindrical wrapper extending from said distal end to said proximal end and having a first length; at least one capsule placed within said first cylindrical wrapper, said at least one capsule comprising an inner liquid contained within an outer breakable shell; a smokable filler placed within said first cylindrical wrapper and at least between said at least one capsule and said distal end of said smokable element, wherein combustion of a portion of said smokable filler adjacent said distal end of said smokable element along with inhalation by a user results in smoke passing through said first cylindrical wrapper toward said proximal end of said smokable element; and a second cylindrical wrapper having a distal end, a proximal end, and a second length therebetween that is shorter than said first length, said second cylindrical wrapper being positioned over said first cylindrical wrapper at a location at least adjacent said at least one capsule; wherein said outer breakable shell can be ruptured by applying pressure to a top and bottom portion of said second cylindrical wrapper adjacent said at least one capsule, resulting in a release of said inner liquid into a portion of said smokable filler adjacent said at least one capsule; wherein said second cylindrical wrapper is configured to at least reinforce said first cylindrical wrapper adjacent said at least one capsule after said inner liquid has been released.
2 . The smokable element of claim 1 , wherein said first cylindrical wrapper is tapered, a distal end of said first cylindrical wrapper having a diameter that is larger than a proximal end of said first cylindrical wrapper.
3 . The smokable element of claim 1 , wherein said second cylindrical wrapper has a thickness that is one of equal to and greater than two times that of a thickness of said first cylindrical wrapper.
4 . The smokable element of claim 2 , wherein said second cylindrical wrapper is tapered and configured to be slid over said first cylindrical wrapper.
5 . The smokable element of claim 1 , wherein said inner liquid comprises at least one cannabinoid.
6 . The smokable element of claim 5 , wherein said cannabinoid comprises at least one of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), cannabigerol (CBG), and cannabichromene (CBC).
7 . The smokable element of claim 5 , wherein said inner liquid further comprises at least one terpenoid.
8 . The smokable element of claim 7 , wherein said terpenoid comprises at least one of citrulline, limonene, myrcene, pinene, linalool, humulene, ocimene, terpinolene, and caryophyllene.
9 . The smokable element of claim 7 , wherein a ratio of terpenoids to cannabinoids is one of equal to or greater than two-to-one.
10 . The smokable element of claim 7 , wherein said inner liquid further comprises at least one flavonoid.
11 . A method for incorporating at least one capsule into a smokable element having a distal end and a proximal end, wherein said capsule comprises an inner liquid contained within an outer breakable shell, comprising:
forming a first cylindrical wrapper, said first cylindrical wrapper extending from said distal end of said smokable element to said proximal end of said smokable element, and having a first length; placing said capsule inside said first cylindrical wrapper, closer to said proximal end of said smokable element than said distal end of said smokable element; placing a smokable filler inside said first cylindrical wrapper, filling said first cylindrical wrapper from said capsule to said distal end of said smokable element, wherein combustion of a portion of said smokable filler adjacent said distal end of said smokable element along and inhalation by a user results in smoke passing through said first cylindrical wrapper toward said proximal end of said smokable element; and placing a second cylindrical wrapper over said first cylindrical wrapper at a location at least adjacent said capsule, said second cylindrical wrapper having a distal end, a proximal end, and a second length therebetween that is shorter than said first length; wherein said outer breakable shell can be ruptured by squeezing said second cylindrical wrapper adjacent said at least one capsule, resulting in a release of said inner liquid into a portion of said smokable filler adjacent said at least one capsule.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising the step of placing another portion of said smokable filler inside said first cylindrical wrapper between said capsule and said proximal end of said smokable element.
13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising the step of placing other portions of said smokable filler around said capsule, between said capsule and inner surfaces of said first cylindrical wrapper.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said first cylindrical wrapper is tapered, a distal end of said first cylindrical wrapper having a diameter that is larger than a proximal end of said first cylindrical wrapper.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said second cylindrical wrapper has a thickness that is one of equal to and greater than two times that of a thickness of said first cylindrical wrapper.
16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein said second cylindrical wrapper is tapered and is placed over said first cylindrical wrapper by said user by sliding said second cylindrical wrapper over said first cylindrical wrapper.
17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said inner liquid comprises at least one substance extracted from cannabis and selected from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), cannabigerol (CBG), and cannabichromene (CBC).
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said substance further comprises at least one terpenoid selected from citrulline, limonene, myrcene, pinene, linalool, humulene, ocimene, terpinolene, and caryophyllene.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein said substance comprises a ratio of terpenoids to cannabinoids is equal to or greater than two-to-one.
20 . A cigarette, comprising:
a first wrapper having a distal end, a proximal end, and a first length therebetween; at least one capsule placed within said first wrapper, said capsule comprising at least a liquid therein; a smokable filler placed within said first wrapper and at least between said capsule and said distal end of said first wrapper, wherein inhalation by a user during combustion of said smokable filler adjacent said distal end of said first cylindrical wrapper results in smoke flowing through said first wrapper from said distal end of said first wrapper to said proximal end of said first wrapper; and a second wrapper having a distal end, a proximal end, and a second length therebetween that is shorter than said first length, said second wrapper being positioned over at least a portion of said first wrapper surrounding said capsule; wherein said capsule can be ruptured by applying an inward pressure to said second wrapper, resulting in a release of said liquid over a portion of said smokable filler adjacent said at least one capsule.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
