Standing mat

Abstract

A standing desk mat includes a base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a shoe of a standing user off a floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat, and a strap operably connected to the base to form a bridge spanning a portion of the base for an upper portion of the shoe to engage a bottom portion of the strap upon the user raising the shoe above the base to raise at least a portion of the standing desk mat therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the strap upon the user lowering the shoe to lower the base to the floor therewith.

1 . A standing desk mat set comprising:
 a first mat comprising a first base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a first shoe or foot of a standing user off a floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat set and having a length dimension longer than 12.5 inches and a width dimension wider than 5.25 inches;   a second mat comprising a second base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a second shoe or foot of the standing user off the floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat set and having a length dimension longer than 12.5 inches and a width dimension wider than 5.25 inches;   a first strap operably connected to the first base to form a first bridge spanning a portion of the first base, a bottom portion of the first strap disposed at its peak at least 3 inches vertically above a top portion of the first base for an upper portion of the first shoe or foot to engage the bottom portion of the first strap upon the user raising the first shoe or foot above the first base to raise the first base off the floor therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the first strap upon the user lowering the first shoe to lower the first base to the floor therewith; and   a second strap operably connected to the second base to form a second bridge spanning a portion of the second base, a bottom portion of the second strap disposed at its peak at least 3 inches vertically above a top portion of the second base for an upper portion of the second shoe or foot to engage the bottom portion of the second strap upon the user raising the second shoe or foot above the second base to raise the second base off the floor therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the second strap upon the user lowering the second shoe or foot to lower the first base to the floor therewith.   
     
     
         2 . The standing desk mat set of  claim 1  wherein the first strap includes two strap portions, a first strap portion operably connected to a first side of the first base and a second strap portion operably connected to a second side of the first base, the first strap portion including a first fastener portion and the second strap portion including a second fastener portion configured to releasably engage the first fastener portion. 
     
     
         3 . A standing desk mat comprising:
 a base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a shoe or foot of a standing user off a floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat and having a length dimension longer than 12.5 inches and a width dimension wider than 5.25 inches; and   a strap operably connected to the base to form a bridge spanning a portion of the base, a bottom portion of the strap disposed at its peak 3 or more inches vertically above a top portion of the base for an upper portion of the shoe or foot to engage a bottom portion of the strap upon the user raising the shoe or foot above the base to raise at least a portion of the standing desk mat therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the strap upon the user lowering the shoe to lower the base to the floor therewith.   
     
     
         4 . The standing desk mat of  claim 3 , comprising:
 a second base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides for supporting a bottom of a second shoe of the standing user off the floor when the user is standing on the standing desk mat; and   a second strap operably connected to the second base to form a second bridge spanning a portion of the second base for an upper portion of the second shoe to engage a bottom portion of the second strap upon the user raising the second shoe above the second base to raise at least a portion of the standing desk mat therewith and disengage the bottom portion of the second strap upon the user lowering the second shoe to lower the second base to the floor therewith.   
     
     
         5 . The standing desk mat of  claim 3  wherein the strap includes two strap portions, a first strap portion operably connected to a first side of the base and a second strap portion operably connected to a second side of the base, the first strap portion including a first fastener portion and the second strap portion including a second fastener portion configured to releasably engage the first fastener portion. 
     
     
         6 . A method of operating a standing desk mat comprising:
 standing with a shoe or foot on a base of the standing desk mat, the base having a thickness dimension within which a cushioning material resides;   raising the shoe or foot off the base to disengage a bottom portion of the shoe or foot from the base and engage a top portion of the shoe or foot to a bottom portion of a strap operably connected to the base to form a bridge spanning a portion of the base;   raising the standing desk mat off the floor by further raising the shoe or foot;   moving the standing desk mat horizontally by moving the shoe or foot horizontally;   lowering the standing desk mat to the floor by lowering the shoe or foot; and   further lowering the shoe or foot to disengage the top portion of the shoe or foot from the strap and engage the bottom portion of the shoe or foot to the base.
