Abstract

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for predicting a urinary event of a patient. In one example, a system comprises a fluid consumption cup comprising one or more sensors. The system may comprise communication circuitry configured to receive, from the fluid consumption cup, one or more signals that indicate an amount of fluid removed from the fluid consumption cup. The system may comprise processing circuitry configured to: update a patient log based on the one or more signals that indicate the amount of fluid removed from the fluid consumption cup; determine that the urinary event is predicted to occur, the occurrence of the urinary event predicted based on the patient log; and provide, in response to the determination and for receipt by the patient, a notification that the urinary event is predicted to occur.

         21 . An implantable medical device for use with a system for treating urinary incontinence of a patient, the device comprising:
 a memory configured to store a patient log;   a communication circuit configured to receive a signal that indicates an amount of fluid consumed by the patient;   a therapy delivery circuit configured to provide electrical stimulation to a target nerve associated with control of a bladder of the patient; and   a processing circuit configured to:
 update the patient log based on the received signal that indicates the amount of fluid consumed by the patient; 
 determine a patient fluid state according to the patient log; and 
 provide, in response to determining the patient fluid state, a signal to the therapy delivery circuit to provide electrical stimulation. 
   
     
     
         22 . The implantable medical device of  claim 21 , wherein the processing circuit is further configured to adjust the signal to the therapy delivery circuit in response to determining a change in the patient fluid state. 
     
     
         23 . The implantable medical device of  claim 21 , wherein the memory further comprises a neuromodulation therapy program, and further wherein the processing circuit is configured to deliver electrical stimulation according to the neuromodulation therapy program. 
     
     
         24 . The implantable medical device of  claim 23 , wherein the processing circuit is further configured to adjust the neuromodulation therapy program in response to determining the patient fluid state. 
     
     
         25 . The implantable medical device of  claim 21 , wherein the therapy delivery circuit is configured to deliver electrical stimulation therapy via one or more leads that include electrodes located proximate to the target nerve. 
     
     
         26 . The implantable medical device of  claim 21 , wherein the signal that indicates an amount of fluid consumed by the patient is received from a fluid consumption container. 
     
     
         27 . The implantable medical device of  claim 26 , wherein the fluid consumption container comprises one or more sensors. 
     
     
         28 . A system for treating urinary incontinence of a patient, comprising:
 a fluid consumption container comprising one or more sensors; and   an implantable medical device comprising:
 a memory configured to store a patient log; 
 a communication circuit configured to receive a signal from the fluid consumption container that indicates an amount of fluid an amount of fluid removed from the fluid consumption cup; 
 a therapy delivery circuit configured to provide electrical stimulation to a target nerve associated with control of a bladder of the patient; and 
 a processing circuit configured to:
 update the patient log based on the received signal that indicates the amount of fluid removed from the fluid consumption cup; 
 determine that a patient fluid state according to the patient log; and 
 provide, in response to the determination, a signal to the therapy delivery circuit to provide electrical stimulation. 
 
   
     
     
         29 . The system of  claim 28 , wherein the processing circuit is further configured to adjust the signal to the therapy delivery circuit in response to determining a change in the patient fluid state. 
     
     
         30 . The system of  claim 28 , wherein the memory further comprises a neuromodulation therapy program, and further wherein the processing circuit is configured to deliver electrical stimulation according to the neuromodulation therapy program. 
     
     
         31 . The system of  claim 30 , wherein the processing circuit is further configured to adjust the neuromodulation therapy program in response to determining the patient fluid state. 
     
     
         32 . The system of  claim 28 , wherein the therapy delivery circuit is configured to deliver electrical stimulation therapy via one or more leads that include electrodes located proximate to the target nerve. 
     
     
         33 . The system of  claim 28 , wherein the signal that indicates an amount of fluid consumed by the patient is received from a fluid consumption container. 
     
     
         34 . A method for operating a system for treating urinary incontinence of a patient, comprising:
 receiving, by a communication circuit, from a fluid consumption cup comprising one or more sensors, a signal indicating an amount fluid removed from the cup;   updating, in a memory, by a processing circuit, a patient log based on the signal indicating the amount fluid removed from the cup;   determining, by the processing circuit, a patient fluid state according to the patient log; and   providing, by the processing circuit, to a therapy delivery circuit configured to provide electrical stimulation to a target nerve associated with control of a bladder of the patient, in response to determining the patient fluid state, a signal to provide electrical stimulation.   
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 34 , further comprising adjusting, by the processing circuit, in response to determining a change in the patient fluid state, the signal to the therapy delivery circuit to provide electrical stimulation. 
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 34 , further comprising retrieving, by the processing circuit, from the memory, a neuromodulation therapy program stored in the memory; and
 adjusting, by the processing circuit, in response to the neuromodulation therapy program, the signal to the therapy delivery circuit to provide electrical stimulation.   
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 36 , further comprising adjusting, by the processing circuit, in response to determining the patient fluid state, the neuromodulation therapy program. 
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein the therapy delivery circuit is configured to deliver electrical stimulation therapy via one or more leads that include electrodes located proximate to the target nerve. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein the signal that indicates an amount of fluid consumed by the patient is received from a fluid consumption container. 
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 39 , wherein the fluid consumption container comprises one or more sensors.
