Graphical user interface for tissue biopsy system
Abstract
A screen providing a GUI is disclosed for a tissue biopsy system having a tissue cutting member. The screen includes a first GUI area configured to represent a first region of the target site from which at least one tissue specimen has been separated from tissue at the target site by the tissue cutting member. The screen further includes a second GUI area configured to represent a second region from which the tissue cutting member may separate one or more additional tissue specimens from tissue at the target site. The screen includes a third GUI area configured to represent a third region in which the tissue cutting member is deployed to separate a tissue specimen from tissue at the target site. The GUI is configured to update the first GUI area, the second GUI area, and the third GUI area as the tissue cutting member is rotated within the patient.

42 . A screen providing a graphical user interface (GUI) for a tissue biopsy system having a tissue cutting member with a tissue receiving aperture, the tissue cutting member adapted for cutting one or more tissue specimens from tissue at a target site within a patient, the screen having the graphical user interface comprising:
a. a first GUI area configured to represent a first region of the target site from which at least one tissue specimen has been separated from tissue at the target site by the tissue cutting member; b. a second GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first GUI area, configured to represent a second region from which the tissue cutting member may separate one or more additional tissue specimens from tissue at the target site; and c. a third GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first and second GUI areas, configured to represent a third region in which the tissue cutting member is deployed to separate a tissue specimen from tissue at the target site, wherein the graphical user interface is configured to generate each of the first GUI area, the second GUI area, and the third GUI area during a biopsy procedure, the graphical user interface is configured to update the first GUI area, the second GUI area, and the third GUI area as the tissue receiving aperture is rotated within the tissue at the target site within a patient.
43 . The screen of claim 42 , wherein the first, second and third GUI areas are marked with colors or patterns distinguishable from each other.
44 . The screen of claim 42 , wherein the first, second and third GUI areas are arranged within a circle.
45 . The screen of claim 44 , wherein the first and third GUI areas are of a fan shape.
46 . A tissue biopsy system having a tissue cutting member having a cutting tip with a tissue receiving aperture, the tissue biopsy system having a control module and a mechanical system, the control module and the mechanical system are configured to control the rotation of the tissue receiving aperture to a plurality of angular positions within the target site, and a screen having a graphical user interface (GUI), the screen is configured to operate in association with the control module, comprising:
a. the screen having a first GUI area configured to represent a first region of a target site from which the tissue cutting member has separated one or more tissue specimens, the first GUI area being marked with a first color or first pattern; b. the screen having a second GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first GUI area, configured to represent a second region of the target site from which the tissue cutting member may separate one or more additional tissue specimens by rotation of the tissue cutting member, the second GUI being marked with a second color or second pattern to make the second GUI area visually distinguishable from the first GUI area; and c. the screen having a third GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first GUI area and the second GUI area, configured to represent a third region in which the tissue cutting member is deployed to separate a tissue specimen from tissue at the target site, the third GUI area being marked with a third color or third pattern visually distinguishable from the first color or first pattern of the first GUI area, and from the second color or second pattern of the second GUI area.
47 . The tissue biopsy system of claim 46 , wherein the first GUI area, the second GUI area, and the third GUI area are arranged within a circle.
48 . The tissue biopsy system of claim 46 , wherein the third GUI area is of a fan shape.
49 . A screen providing a graphical user interface (GUI) for a tissue biopsy system having a control module and a tissue cutting member adapted for cutting one or more tissue specimens from tissue at a target site within a patient during a biopsy procedure, the control module is configured to control a rotation of the tissue cutting member, the screen is configured to be used in association with the control module, the screen providing the graphical user interface comprising:
a plurality of contiguous GUI areas that dynamically change in response to the screen's association with the control module during the biopsy procedure, the plurality of contiguous GUI areas including:
a first GUI area that represents a first region of the target site, the first region being cumulative of all tissue specimens that have been separated from tissue at the target site by the tissue cutting member;
a second GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first GUI area, that represents a second region from which the tissue cutting member may separate one or more additional tissue specimens from tissue at the target site; and
a third GUI area, visually distinguishable from the first and second GUI areas, that represents a third region in which the tissue cutting member is deployed to separate a next tissue specimen from tissue at the target site.
50 . The screen of claim 49 , wherein the screen is configured to update each of the plurality of contiguous GUI areas as a result of the tissue cutting member rotating into a new rotational position, such that the screen is configured to display a graphical user interface that represents a cutting progression during the biopsy procedure.
51 . The screen of claim 49 , further comprising:
a textual message indicating a state of operation for the biopsy system.
52 . The screen of claim 51 , wherein the textual message is selected from a group consisting of initialization, calibration, closed, opening, sampling, indexing, indexing error, tool failure, vacuum failure, and tool exit state.
53 . The screen of claim 49 , wherein the first GUI area is adjacent to the second GUI area and the third GUI area, the second GUI area is adjacent to the first GUI area and the third GUI area, and the third GUI area is adjacent to the first GUI area and the second GUI area.
54 . The screen of claim 53 , wherein the screen is configured to increase the size of the first GUI area as the biopsy procedure progresses.
55 . The screen of claim 49 , wherein the screen is configured to decrease the size of the second GUI area in proportion to an increase in size of the first GUI area as the biopsy procedure progresses.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
