Abstract
A controller includes an address manager suitable for mapping a first information indicating a start map data of a continuous map data, and a second information indicating a number of the continuous map data, and suitable for storing the first and second information; and a processor suitable for controlling, when a read request for a target map data is received, a memory device to read out the target map data from a meta region of the memory device based on the first information and the second information.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An operating method of a storage system, the method comprising:
receiving a first read request including a first logical address, which corresponds to a first piece of map data; prefetching plural pieces of the map data from a storage medium in response to the first read request, the plural pieces of the map data being continuous from the first piece of the map data; storing the plural pieces of the map data in a random access memory; receiving a second read request including a second logical address which corresponds to one of the plural pieces of the map data; and reading data corresponding the second read request based on the corresponded piece among the plural pieces of the map data stored in the random access memory, without reading the corresponded one of the plural pieces of the map data from the storage medium.
2 . The operating method of claim 1 , wherein the prefetching the plural pieces of the map data is performed based on information, which is stored in the storage medium, indicating how many pieces of the map data are continuous from the first piece of the map data.
3 . The operating method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving of the first read request includes:
receiving the first read request along with the first logical address from an external device; and searching for the first piece of the map data in the storage medium, based on the first logical address.
4 . The operating method of claim 1 , wherein each piece of the map data stored in the storage medium includes information indicating how many other pieces of the map data are continuous from the piece of the map data.
5 . The operating method of claim 4 , wherein the prefetching of the plural pieces of the map data includes:
reading the first piece of the map data stored in the storage medium; recognizing the information included in the first piece of the map data; and reading the other pieces of the map data which is continuous from the first piece of the map data based on the information.
6 . The operating method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving of the second read request includes:
receiving the second read request along with the second logical address from an external device; and searching for the corresponded piece of the map data among the plural pieces of the map data stored in the random access memory, based on the second logical address.
7 . An operating method of a storage system including a storage medium storing plural pieces of map data, the method comprising:
receiving a first read request including a first logical address, which corresponds to a first piece of the map data among the plural pieces of the map data; reading a second piece of map data, which is continuous from the first piece of the map data, among the plural pieces of the map data, based on continuity information associated with the first piece of the map data from the storage medium in response to the first read request; and caching the second piece of the map data in a random access memory, before receiving a second read request including a second logical address, which corresponds to the second piece of the map data.
8 . The operating method of claim 7 , wherein the continuity information includes a number of pieces of the map data which are continuous from the first piece of the map data and is stored in the storage medium.
9 . A memory system comprising:
a memory device including a meta region configured to store map data and a user region configured to store user data corresponding to the map data; and a controller configured to receive a first read request including a first logical address corresponding to a first piece of the map data, read plural pieces of the map data from the meta region of the memory device, the plural pieces of the map data being continuous from the first piece of the map data corresponding the first logical address, store the plural pieces of the map data read from the memory device in a cache memory, and determine whether a cache hit occurs in response to a second read request including a second logical address, wherein, when the cache hit occurs, the controller perform the second read request based on a second piece of the map data corresponding the second logical address in the cache memory without reading the second piece of the map data from the memory device.
10 . The memory system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is configured to read the plural pieces of the map data based on information, which is stored in the meta region of the memory device, indicating how many pieces of the map data are continuous from the first piece of the map data.
11 . The memory system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is further configured to search for the first piece of the map data in the memory device, based on the first logical address, when the first read request is input along with the first logical address from an external device.
12 . The memory system of claim 9 , wherein each piece of the map data stored in the memory device includes information indicating how many other pieces of the map data are continuous from the piece of the map data.
13 . The memory system of claim 12 , wherein the controller is further configured to read the first piece of the map data stored in the memory device, recognize the information included in the first piece of the map data, and read the other pieces of the map data, which is continuous from the first piece of the map data based on the information, from the memory device in order to store the plural pieces of the map data in the cache memory.
14 . The memory system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is further configured to receive the second read request input along with the second logical address from an external device and search for a piece of the map data among the plural pieces of the map data stored in the cache memory, based on the second logical address.
15 . The memory system of claim 14 , wherein the cache hit occurs when the controller finds the piece of the map data, which is associated with the second logical address, among the plural pieces of the map data stored in the cache memory.
16 . A memory system comprising:
a memory device including a meta region configured to store map data and a user region configured to store user data corresponding to the map data; and a controller configured to receive a first read request including a first logical address corresponding to a first piece of the map data, read plural pieces of the map data, which are continuous from the first piece of the map data, based on continuity information associated with the first piece of the map data from the memory device in response to the first read request, and store the plural pieces of the map data read from the memory device in a cache memory before receiving a second read request including a second logical address corresponding to a second piece of the map data, the second piece of the map data being included in the plural pieces of the map data in the cache memory, wherein, when the controller receives the second read request, the controller performs an operation for the second read request based on the second piece of the map data corresponding the second logical address in the cache memory, without reading the second piece of map data from the memory device.
17 . The memory system of claim 16 , wherein the continuity information includes a number of pieces of the map data which are continuous from the first piece of the map data.
18 . A memory system, comprising:
a memory device capable of storing plural pieces of user data and plural pieces of map data, each piece of the map data associated with each piece of the user data; and a controller configured to generate each piece of the map data when storing each piece of the user data in the memory device, wherein each piece of the map data includes continuity information showing how many other pieces of the map data is continuous from the piece of map data, receive a read request input along with a logical address, search for a first piece of the map data corresponding to the logical address, and read both the first piece of the map data and at least one other piece of the map data, which is recognized based on continuity information included in the first piece of the map data, from the memory device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
