Abstract
A fiber optic communications arrangement includes a closure with an interior volume; the closure including at least one cable through-port in communication with the interior volume; and an expansion component attached to an exterior portion of the closure and having an interior region in communication with the closure interior volume. The expansion component includes ruggedized fiber optic adapters mounted thereto. Each of the ruggedized fiber optic adapters includes at least one connector port for receiving ruggedized fiber optic connectors.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A fiber optic communications arrangement comprising:
(a) a closure having a length that extends between opposite first and second ends of the closure; the closure including at least one cable through-port located at the first or second end of the closure for sealing about a cable routed into the closure through the first or second end of the closure, the closure being adapted to be installed initially having a first configuration; and (b) a component that is adapted to be attached to the closure at a date after initial installation to convert the closure from the first configuration to a second configuration, the component being arranged to be attached in sealed relation relative to the closure at an intermediate location along the length of the closure, the component including at least one ruggedized fiber optic adapter mounted thereto, the at least one ruggedized fiber optic adapter including at least one connector port for receiving a ruggedized fiber optic connector.
2 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes an optical power splitter.
3 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes at least one optical wavelength splitter.
4 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein a deformable sealing material is disposed between the component and the closure in the second configuration.
5 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 4 , wherein an actuator compresses the sealing material to form an environmental seal.
6 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes a retention structure that attaches to a retention feature on the closure when the component is attached to the closure.
7 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 6 , wherein the retention structure is removably attached to the retention feature.
8 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes at least one wavelength dividing multiplexer.
9 . A fiber optic communications arrangement comprising:
a closure having a length that extends between a first and second end; the closure including at least one cable through-port for sealing about a cable routed into the closure; the closure having a first configuration; and the closure having a second configuration, wherein a component having at least one ruggedized fiber optic adapter mounted thereto is attached in a sealed relation to the closure at an intermediate location along the length.
10 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes an optical power splitter.
11 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes at least one optical wavelength splitter.
12 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes at least one wavelength dividing multiplexer.
13 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein a deformable sealing material is disposed between the component and the closure in the second configuration.
14 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 13 , wherein an actuator compresses the sealing material to form an environmental seal.
15 . The fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the component includes a retention structure that attaches to a retention feature on the closure when the component is attached to the closure.
16 . fiber optic communications arrangement of claim 6 , wherein the retention structure is removably attached to the retention feature.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
