Absorbent article with waistband
Abstract
A disposable absorbent article is disclosed that includes a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first waist region and second waist region, a waist edge in the first waist region, at least one waistband in the first waist region, at least one fastener in the second waist region, and at least one discrete landing zone in the first waist region, the discrete landing zone comprising an lateral inboard edge, wherein the discrete landing zone and the waistband overlap to form an overlap region in the first waist region, and wherein the waistband does not overlap the lateral inboard edge of the discrete landing zone.
Claims

2 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waist region has a resiliency of greater than 5 mJ.
3 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waist region has a stiffness of less than 10 N.
4 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waistband is joined to the first waist region by an adhesive.
5 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the first waistband is further joined to the first waist region by thermal bonds, pressure bonds, and/or ultrasonic welds.
6 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the basis weight of the nonwoven material is about 30 gsm.
7 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the open form disposable absorbent article comprises an ear comprising a zero strain stretch laminate.
8 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the second waistband is joined to the second waist region by an adhesive.
9 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 8 , wherein the second waistband is further joined to the second waist region by thermal bonds, pressure bonds, and/or ultrasonic welds.
10 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the second waistband is free of the first bond pattern.
11 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waistband is coterminous with the waist edge of the first waist region.
12 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waistband laterally terminates within the span of the leg gasketing system.
13 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 1 having a Front-to-Back Delta Chassis Contraction between about 5% and about 20%, according to the Chassis Contraction Method.
14 . An open form disposable absorbent article comprising:
a chassis comprising a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first waist region and second waist region, a first waist edge in the first waist region, a second waist edge in the second waist region, a first waistband laminate applied to the chassis in the first waist region, a second waistband laminate applied to the chassis in the second waist region, at least one fastener in the second waist region, a topsheet, a backsheet, a leg gasketing system, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; wherein the first and second waistband laminates each comprise a nonwoven material and an elastomeric film, wherein the first waistband laminate comprises a wavy bond pattern formed therein, the wavy bond pattern comprising a plurality of bonded areas where the fibers of the nonwoven material of the first waistband laminate are joined together by thermal bonds, pressure bonds, and/or ultrasonic welds, wherein the wavy bond pattern is configured to form corrugations in the nonwoven material of the first waistband laminate, wherein the plurality of bonded areas extend in a generally longitudinal direction of the absorbent article, and wherein the corrugations in the nonwoven material of the first waistband laminate extend generally adjacent to the plurality of bonded areas in the longitudinal direction; and wherein the second waistband laminate is free of the wavy bond pattern.
15 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 14 , wherein the plurality of bonded areas define a plurality of substantially continuous wavy bond lines, wherein a plurality of unbonded areas are positioned between corresponding adjacent bonded areas, and wherein when the nonwoven material of the first waistband laminate is in an uncontracted state, at least a portion of the unbonded areas extend in a z-direction above the adjacent bonded areas.
16 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 14 , wherein the first waistband is coterminous with the first waist edge of the first waist region.
17 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 16 , wherein the second waistband is coterminous with the second waist edge of the second waist region.
18 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 14 having a Front-to-Back Delta Chassis Contraction between about 5% and about 20%, according to the Chassis Contraction Method.
19 . The open form disposable absorbent article of claim 14 , wherein the first waistband is joined to the first waist region by an adhesive, and wherein the second waistband is joined to the second waist region by an adhesive.
20 . An open form disposable absorbent article comprising:
a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first waist region and second waist region, a first waist edge in the first waist region, a second waist edge in the second waist region, a first waistband disposed in the first waist region, a second waistband disposed in the second waist region, at least one fastener disposed in the second waist region, and a leg gasketing system; wherein the first and second waistbands each comprise a nonwoven material and a film; wherein the first waistband comprises a first bond pattern formed therein, the first bond pattern comprising a plurality of bonded areas and a plurality of unbonded areas positioned between corresponding adjacent bonded areas, and wherein the plurality of bonded areas define a plurality of bond lines where the fibers of the nonwoven material are joined together; wherein the first bond pattern is configured to form corrugations in the nonwoven material of the first waistband, wherein the plurality of bonded areas extend in a generally longitudinal direction of the absorbent article, and wherein the corrugations in the nonwoven material of the first waistband extend generally parallel to the plurality of bonded areas in the longitudinal direction; wherein when the nonwoven material of the first waistband is in an uncontracted state, at least a portion of the unbonded areas extend in a z-direction above the adjacent bonded areas; wherein at least a portion of the plurality of bonded areas of the first bond pattern join the first waistband to the first waist region; and wherein the second waistband is free of the first bond pattern.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
