Hooded clothing arrangement and cap
Abstract
Headwear for partially covering a hat is described wherein the hat has a crown and a headband region. The headwear comprises a piece of material o fan irregular shape which has an aperture located closer to a side portion of the headwear material than other sides of the material. The aperture size is adjustable so as to permit the headwear material to be fixable to the hat about the headband region of the hat and to leave the crown of the hat uncovered by the material. This arrangement allows for the remainder of the material to depend from the hat and fall below the headband of the hat about the head of the wearer of the hat. The specification also discloses a hood for clothing having an adjustable sized aperture so as to permit the hood material to be fixable to the that about the headband region of the hat and to leave the drown of the hat uncovered by the material while the hood is still part of the clothing such as a sweat shirt.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An article of headwear for partially covering a hat, the hat having a crown, a headband region, and a visor, the headwear comprising:
a flexible cloth material including an aperture configured to permit most of the crown region of the hat to protrude therefrom when the headwear is engaged with the hat, said material including a front portion configured to overlie the visor of the hat, opposed side portions, and a rear portion, said opposed side portions and said rear portion each being configured to extend from said aperture to cover the headband region and a neck of a wearer of the hat; and an adjustment mechanism configured to contract the aperture to tighten against the crown of the hat while worn by the wearer.
2 . The headwear according to claim 1 , wherein said adjustment mechanism includes an elastic band.
3 . The headwear according to claim 1 , wherein the material includes a channel surrounding the aperture, said aperture adjustment mechanism including a cord insertable through said channel, the cord being movable through said channel and having two free ends, wherein pulling on one or both of the free ends of the cord gathers the material to make the aperture less in size.
4 . The headwear according to claim 1 , further comprising: a releasable cord fixing device adapted to carry each cord and releasably engage with one or both of the cords.
5 . The headwear according to claim 1 , wherein said material of the headwear is adapted to engage to a clothing garment along at least a portion of a side of the material.
6 . The headwear according to claim 5 , wherein said material includes at least one of a hook material and eye material to engage said material of the headwear to a clothing garment.
7 . The headwear according to claim 1 , further comprising a netting material configured as a barrier to flying insects.
8 . A hood for a clothing garment, the hood comprising:
a hood material including an aperture located in a portion of the hood material which is located closer to a side portion of the hood material than other sides of the hood material, the aperture size being adjustable so as to permit the hood material to be fixable to a hat about a headband region of the hat and to leave a crown of the hat uncovered by the material allowing the remainder of the hood material to depend from the hat and fall below the headband of the hat about the head of the wearer of the hat.
9 . The hood of claim 8 , wherein the hood is releasably attachable to a clothing garment.
10 . The hood of claim 8 , further comprising an aperture size adjusting mechanism.
11 . The hood of claim 10 , wherein the hood includes a channel surrounding the aperture, said aperture size adjustment mechanism including a cord insertable through said channel, the cord being movable through said channel.
12 . The hood of claim 11 , wherein said aperture size adjustment mechanism includes a toggle.
13 . The hood of claim 8 , wherein the hood is integral with the clothing garment.
14 . The hood of claim 8 , wherein the clothing garment associated with the hood includes a neck opening with a diameter configured to accommodate a neck of a wearer, said aperture having a diameter in an expanded configuration that is greater than the diameter of the neck opening of the clothing garment.
15 . The headwear of claim 1 , wherein the cloth material is unitary.
16 . The headwear of claim 1 , wherein said adjustment mechanism is configured to releaseably adjust the aperture size of the aperture.
17 . The headwear of claim 1 , wherein a forward portion of said side portions are configured to wrap around the neck of the user and engage one another, said side portions and said front portion defining a face aperture when said side portions are engaged to one another.
18 . The headwear of claim 17 , wherein said side portions are releasably attachable to one another so as to partially close the front of said headwear.
19 . The headwear of claim 1 , wherein said material includes an inner boundary defining said aperture, said material including an outer boundary defining the furthest extent of said front portion, said side portions and said rear portion away from said aperture, a distance from said outer boundary to said inner boundary at said front portion being less than a distance from said outer boundary to said inner boundary at said rear portion.
20 . The headwear of claim 1 , wherein said material includes an inner boundary defining said aperture, said material including an outer boundary defining the furthest extent of said front portion, said side portions and said rear portion away from said aperture, said material including a seam extending from said outer boundary to said inner boundary.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
