Abstract
A system configured to remotely control a server includes a management data store configured to store information about a service hosted by the server. The information is stored in a service record. The system includes a configuration module configured to generate a configuration file for the service. The configuration file includes a location of a script local to the server. The configuration module stores the configuration file in the management data store. The system includes a remote execution module configured to push the configuration file stored in the management data store to the server, locally execute the script on the server, and receive a result of the execution of the script from the server. The system includes an operator portal configured to present a user interface to an operator. The user interface includes a visual representation of the received result of the execution of the script from the server.

1 . A service management system configured to remotely control a server, the service management system comprising:
a management data store configured to store information about a service hosted by the server, wherein the information is stored in a service record; a configuration module configured to:
generate a configuration file for the service, wherein the configuration file includes a location of a script local to the server; and
store the configuration file in the management data store;
a remote execution module configured to:
push the configuration file stored in the management data store to the server;
locally execute the script on the server; and
receive a result of the execution of the script from the server; and
an operator portal configured to present a user interface to an operator, wherein the user interface includes a visual representation of the received result of the execution of the script from the server.
2 . The service management system of claim 1 , wherein the configuration module is configured to automatically generate the configuration file for the service based on the service record in the management data store.
3 . The service management system of claim 1 , wherein:
the configuration module is configured to generate a reboot script for the server and store the reboot script in the management data store, and the reboot script is configured to bring the service online after the server is restarted.
4 . The service management system of claim 3 , wherein the remote execution module is configured to push the reboot script stored in the management data store to the server.
5 . The service management system of claim 3 , wherein the configuration module is configured to automatically generate the reboot script for the server based on the information stored in the management data store.
6 . The service management system of claim 3 , further comprising a scheduling module configured to instruct the remote execution module to push out the reboot script at a predetermined time.
7 . The service management system of claim 3 , wherein:
the reboot script includes instructions related to starting the service on the server after the server is rebooted; the user interface includes an expected status of the service; and the expected status is based on the instructions included in the reboot script.
8 . The service management system of claim 1 , further comprising an authentication module configured to receive credentials associated with the operator from the operator portal and to determine whether the operator is authorized to access the service management system.
9 . The service management system of claim 1 , wherein:
the operator portal is configured to store a general script in the management data store as a general button record; and the remote execution module is configured to retrieve the general script from the management data store and send the general script to a server for execution.
10 . The service management system of claim 9 , wherein:
the operator portal is configured to present a user interface including a name of the server, wherein the name of the server is a first user selectable element; and the operator portal is configured to, in response to selection of the first user selectable element:
create another user interface for display to the operator that includes a second user selectable element that is associated with the general button record, and
in response to selection by the operator of the second user selectable element, instruct the remote execution module to execute the general script on the server.
11 . The service management system of claim 1 , further comprising a scheduling module configured to instruct the remote execution module to obtain a status of the service at a predetermined time interval.
12 . A method for remotely controlling a set of servers, comprising:
obtaining information about a service hosted by a server in the set of servers; generating a configuration file for the service, wherein the configuration file includes a location of a script local to the server; pushing the configuration file to the server; locally executing the script on the server; receiving a result of the execution of the script from the server; and presenting a user interface to an operator, wherein the user interface includes a visual representation of the received result of the execution of the script from the server.
13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising automatically generating the configuration file for the service based on the information about the service.
14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
generating a reboot script for one or more servers in the set of servers, wherein the reboot script is configured to bring the service online after the one or more servers are restarted.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising pushing the reboot script to the one or more servers.
16 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising pushing out the reboot script at a predetermined time.
17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein:
the reboot script includes instructions related to starting the service on the server after the server is rebooted; the user interface includes an expected status of the service; and the expected status is based on the instructions included in the reboot script.
18 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
determining, based on the result of the execution of the script on the server, whether a status of the service cannot be obtained; and in response to determining that the status of the service cannot be obtained, generating and sending an alert to the operator.
19 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing processor-executable instructions, the instructions comprising:
storing, in a management data store, information about a service hosted by a server; generating a configuration file for the service, wherein the configuration file includes a location of a script local to the server; pushing the configuration file stored in the management data store to the server; locally executing the script on the server; receiving a result of the execution of the script from the server; and creating a user interface to an operator, wherein the user interface includes a visual representation of the received result of the execution of the script from the server.
20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the instructions further comprise:
determining, based on the result of the execution of the script on the server, whether a status of the service cannot be obtained; and in response to determining that the status of the service cannot be obtained, generating and sending an alert to the operator.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
