Abstract
The present invention relates to isolated polypeptides having lysozyme activity and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An isolated polypeptide having lysozyme activity, selected from the group consisting of:
(a) a polypeptide having at least 80% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 4 or to the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 8; (b) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 80% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3 or to the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7; (c) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under medium-high stringency conditions with the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3 or SEQ ID NO: 7, or the full-length complement thereof; (d) a variant of the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 8, comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more (e.g., several) positions; and (e) a fragment of the polypeptide of (a), (b), (c) or (d) that has lysozyme activity.
2 . The polypeptide of claim 1 , selected among polypeptides comprising or consisting of SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 8 or the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 8.
3 . The polypeptide of claim 2 , wherein the mature polypeptide is selected among amino acids 20 to 227 of SEQ ID NO: 4 or amino acids 1 to 208 of SEQ ID NO: 8.
4 . The polypeptide of claim 1 , which is a variant of the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 8 comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more (several) positions.
5 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 1 .
6 . The composition of claim 5 being a detergent composition.
7 - 9 . (canceled)
10 . An animal feed composition comprising the polypeptide of
11 . The animal feed composition of claim 10 , which further comprises one or more amylases; phytases; xylanases; galactanases; alpha-galactosidases; proteases, phospholipases, beta-glucanases, or any mixture thereof.
12 . An animal feed additive comprising
at least one polypeptide of claim 1 ; and at least one fat-soluble vitamin, and/or at least one water-soluble vitamin, and/or at least one trace mineral.
13 . The animal feed additive of claim 12 , which further comprises one or more amylases; phytases; xylanases; galactanases; alpha-galactosidases; proteases, phospholipases, beta-glucanases, or any mixture thereof.
14 . The composition of claim 5 being a bacterial genomic DNA extraction composition.
15 . The bacterial genomic DNA extraction composition of claim 14 wherein the composition additionally comprises of one or more further lysozymes.
16 - 21 . (canceled)
22 . A method of isolating DNA from bacteria, comprising:
(a) treating the isolated bacteria with the polypeptide of claim 1 ; and (b) recovering the bacterial DNA.
23 . An isolated polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide of claim 1 .
24 . A nucleic acid construct or expression vector comprising the polynucleotide of claim 23 operably linked to one or more control sequences that direct the production of the polypeptide in an expression host.
25 . A recombinant host cell comprising the polynucleotide of claim 23 operably linked to one or more control sequences that direct the production of the polypeptide.
26 . (canceled)
27 . A method of producing a polypeptide having lysozyme activity, comprising:
(a) cultivating the host cell of claim 25 under conditions conducive for production of the polypeptide; and (b) recovering the polypeptide.
