Abstract

The invention provides prognostic methods for evaluating the severity of NMO and NMO-associated diseases as well as methods of treating NMO and NMO-associated diseases.

         2 . A method for treating neuromyelitis optica (NMO), wherein said method comprises:
 (a) administering 1-amino-3,5-dimethyl-adamantane to an individual having NMO and identified as being serologically positive for AQP4-IgG autoantibody, and   (b) administering an anti-C5 antibody to said individual.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein said anti-C5 antibody is administered orally.
